If you're referring to VA disability, that's tax-exempt anyway.

Texas in a heart beat as my son and only grand rug rate live NE of DAllas

no state income tax but property taxes and house are out of site

I would have to live in a rural setting and that would not be a issue as I dont have school age kids

Probably more wealth in St Simmons than the entire state of Mississippi not to mention Lake Burton,Seed and Rabun

I’m just poking fun. There are lots of areas outside of Metro Atlanta that are great. That gnat line is pretty depressing though.

Best part of Oklahoma, topographically. Ouachitas and hardly any people.

Oklahoma isn't a bad state. Only when you get past Tulsa does it get windy and desolate.

Windy and desolate really don't start until you are west of OKC.

We have a "tumbleweed line"in Oklahoma. Basically west of HWY 81 (about 20 miles west of I-35). West of 81 you will see tumbleweeds. East of it... you won't.

I avoided Missouri like the plague while in the Army but couple of years back I saw a civilian job out here that sounded interesting. Came out from Florida to look around and fell in love with it, but only the Ozarks region of Missouri.

Many would say Oklahoma when they join, but I used to travel to Tulsa a lot for work, and freaking loved it.

I lived in Tulsa as a boy. The area that lived in has completely flipped on its head, but I suspect the good parts are still fun. There is a lot of stuff to do there.

Would:
South Carolina
Tennessee (Knoxville more than Nashville)
Texas
Georgia
Arkansas

Not:
Oklahoma
Louisiana
Mississippi
Kentucky
Alabama
Missouri

Florida is great for two months of the year then turns into a boiling pot of strip malls and tourists.

Basically hot and rural all year isn't my bag.
