I think it entirely depends what kind of team you are and what kind of offense you are going up against.

Depends on the coach’s ability to not shite the bed.

At Arkansas, there have been issues…

At this point in the year a bye. Early in the year before the carnage probably a bye

Either is preferable to two tough games in a row

An easy opponent with one exception.

If that easy opponent runs the triple option, it's worse than having a bye. It will often hurt when you play a team running a "regular" offense.

There are always nuances. Thanks for the info.

I hated when UGA played triple option cupcakes in the past. Defending the triple option requires patience rather than aggression from a defense. Playing anyone else, aggression is preferred.

I can't remember how many times we looked tentative on defense the game after playing a triple option cupcake. The worst was ending with GT running the triple option and then playing in the SEC title game. We came out looking tentative on defense a lot in that scenario.

Depends on who you're playing in the big game.

I would always rather watch my team play than not play.

im no so sure about that - Gators were surprisingly good this year and winning against Ole Miss was huge

I think y’all would have been in the playoffs with Texas’ schedule - certainly with Indiana’s schedule…

Good luck next year

BYEs are best after a run of tough games and before another tough game.

Anyone not saying a bye is cluleless. Each game is more chances for injuries or reagrevating esisting problems. There is a reason teams coming of bye weeks statistically win more then lose. Note ven the worst "easy" teams like SMU or Indiana are capable of pushing teams. None of these games will be like playing UMass.

The only problem about having an easy game before a big opponent is having injuries to key players. Seems like in the past Tennessee has lost some good players playing weak teams in the past.

Having a bye, then an easy opponent, then the big game is preferable.

Unless we take a huge step back with all we lose the NFL after this season wraps, Sammy State should be the next best thing to having a bye.

Byes can be great for healing up minor injuries, but I think the extra time to prepare for an opponent is a bit overrated imo.

There is such a thing as over prepping to the point you're coming out thinking too much instead of just playing your brand of football.
