Look, the scrapping of the BCS system and installing of a committee was done with one thing and one thing only in mind - prop up the B1G at the expense of the SEC. This expanded playoffs selected by a panel movement started gaining ground at the beginning of the historic SEC run of NCs. Remember, it was THE Ohio State who got crushed by UF and LSU at the start of the streak. It really gained momentum when the PTB saw (gasp!) two SEC teams square off for the title after the '11 season. They were terrified that the conference of Leaders and Legends was getting left behind by that group of uncultured rednecks down South. Something had to be done!!!

It's no coincidence that the top 3 teams sitting on the outside looking in were SEC teams. The committee system worked to perfection. The fact it was Alabama as the swing team excluded was just icing on the cake.

Bama would have just lost to any of the 4 first round winners. None of them lost to anybody like Oklahoma ever, much less in November.

The whole 12-team format is stupid and needs to be imploded. However, the bell has already been rung and once that happens there's no going back. The format is more likely to expand further than it is to contract.

Can we PLEASE SHUT UP about how we should have been in the playoff? We had the opportunity to put ourselves in with no discussion and we fell flat on our faces. If anything we should be shocked that we were still even in the discussion at the end of the season, rather than angry we didn't get selected.

Oklahoma is a six-loss team but let's look at their six losses to see just how stupid this argument is:

- Texas (finished 11-2)
- Tennessee (finished 10-2)
- Ole Miss (finished 9-3)
- Missouri (finished 9-3)
- South Carolina (finished 9-3)
- LSU (finished 8-4)

Oklahoma went through a murderer's row of a schedule and lost to five teams that either made the playoffs or were under heavy consideration late into the season. How would have Indiana or SMU coped with a schedule like that?

Not to mention OU played Alabama coming off a bye week.

Really just needs to expand to 16 and teams seeded according to computers not the stupid committee

The Oklahoma loss, a bad one towards the end of the season, sealed their fate.

You get it. This is about money, not what’s best for college football, and there ain’t any of the powers that be listening to a thing old fart fans on an SEC message board are saying about it.

I agree with the OP by the way, but we’d have gotten mudhole stomped in Columbus last night, there wasn’t anyone beating Ohio State last night, and we’d have had trouble in Austin. I think we’d have taken Penn State and we’d have mudhole stomped Notre Dame.

So is LSU, S. Carolina, and OMiss better than SMU. What’s your point.

Probably Kentucky as well. Stop fricking crying ; not a good look spoiled child.

Good only the team that whipped Bama got to embarrass the SEC in the playoff. We might need a rule that even 2 loss SEC teams need to win the conference to make the playoff.

It used to be the top 2 teams. If you lost 1 game you needed luck to get in. Then the top 4 and you were very lucky with 2 losses to get in. And now it's the top 12. With 3 losses you just don't have much of an argument. Even if that team would be favored over half the field. I don't care if we never get a 3 loss team in. But, the current format is the most unfair one to the best conference.

Spin it, gump.

Vandy pushed you around all game long.

How would you describe a 28-14 loss?

You beat a team that didn't go to a bowl by 2 TD's. Arkansas beat us by 10. Have you really sunk so low you have to beat your chest about beating Auburn?

You didn't belong in the Tourney. Again, SC and Ole Miss both had a bigger gripe about not getting in.

Oklahoma is either in it with a chance to win or they play disruptor. Lol they have always been that way and likely will continue to be.

We can beat Georgia though, like nine of the last ten times.
