re: Deer skinning knife

Posted by Catahoula20LSU on 8/9/26 at 2:51 pm to
I keep 3 $20 Winchester brand stainless steel fixed blade knives for skinning. I also have one carbon steel Old Timer.
If you know how to sharpen a knife you don’t have to spend a ton of money on one. Stainless blades hold edge longer but are harder to sharpen. Carbon steel is much easier to sharpen but don’t hold an edge as long as stainless.
Guy apparently wanted suicide by cop and was obliged.
Prayers for his family.
Glad no leo’s were injured.
Yes very cyclical depending on cover, food, and predator population.
I believe we had that same swing set in the early 70’s.
Okay why downvote just for stating a fact?

re: Black Bears in Louisiana

LDWF and feds have been re-introducing the black bears in WMA’s and federal refuges for years, from Tensas to the Atchafalaya basin. Population has been growing. Several sightings just in my neighborhood.
We have roadrunners in Louisiana. Haven’t seen one in a long time.

ETA: The ones I have seen were in Camp Beauregard or Camp Livingston area of Kisatchie. Looking at their range most maps don’t show that they live this far east. But I have seen several in Beauregard.
Awesome pictures!!
Glad to see someone enjoying God’s creation. Several beautiful animals.
Keep sending pictures of your trips. I love to see them.
Your friend just went to school and got an education. And education costs!!

Apparently it costs $1,200 in ATL.

So sorry to hear this. Prayers sent up for his family. I have relatives who have been or currently are federal agents. This hits home hard and makes you realize what danger our LEO’s face these days.
If you kill a bear dispose of it and don’t tell anybody.

Doing my part. Raised four conservative MAGA young adults.
Congratulations Okie!
Your pitching got better as the year went on. Will be a force to reckon with next year if you guys can keep all those pitchers.
Brooks Glycerin according to my son who runs every day.
I like Brooks Ghost.
Oklahoma will be in great shape if they can retain those pitchers. LSU couldn’t replace the pitchers we lost from 2025.
No refuting Pellini and House were two of the worst DC hires at LSU since Lou Tepper.
And you would have been able to recruit more dual sport football players too
