If Malzahn can continue to recruit as he has, Auburn will overtake Alabama and Saban's frustration will grow.

Lol. It's been one season. We still have no idea how good he will be. Everyone is so quick to blame all the negatives on Chizik and give all the credit to Malzahn.

Spurrier, Gus, Sumlin, Mullens are all in a category above Saban.

Saban is probably in a middle tier with your average gameday coaches IMO.

You wouldn't agree the sky is blue over Tuscaloosa.

I don't. I think he'll be successful, and is arguably better than Saban at elements of the game, but Auburn has a lot more obstacles to overcome than Alabama to replicate that success.

Gus, while liked and respected, wasn't ushered into Auburn with great fanfare and huge national attention. He still doesn't get that treatment. He'll have to work harder and do a little more with a little less if he wants to come close to what Saban has accomplished, and I just doubt that happens (at least all the way).

I think there is potential that he ends up being good enough to argue about who was the better football mind, but I don't think he will be able to replicate the hardware Saban has won. In the end, that will probably trump any debate. Hell, Malzahn still has to prove himself worthy over time before we even start this discussion.

My comments are fair. Saban is a pretty average gameday coach. He doesn't screw up and get bama beat, but he isn't gonna make great in game adjustments to win a game bama is losing often either.

True

He doesn't adjust well

Also true because of the above statement

There's only one coach you listed that even makes a case for an argument. Sumlin has had a roller coaster career. Malzahn has two seasons as a head coach. And Mullen hasn't beaten a divisional team other than Ole Miss or Arkansas.

Considering his innate ability to decide when to play for overtime and when to go for hail mary field goal kicks, I give him a ranking of "full retard"

When your defense leads the SEC in total defense every single year, I'd say you are just a little above average as a gameday coach.

A&M was beating the shite out of Bama in 2012. Saban adjusted well in that game and Bama nearly pulled it out. UGA took control of the SEC title game in 2012. Saban adjusted and won the game. Other than 2010 USC and 2008 Utah Bama has not been beatdown under Saban. He adjusts just fine most of the time. Seems to me Malzahn did a shitty job adjusting to what FSU threw at him in the 2nd half of the title game. How come he takes no flack for that meltdown?

Fair point. He does call a good game defensively against most teams. I still think that is mostly talent and schemes and fundamentals, 90% of which is not gameday coaching IMO.

Did #2 Malzahn not Lose to #14 (3 loss) LSU. AU is obviously better than LSU, so it must be Malzahn is a bad game day coach !!

Did Spurrier lose to 5-7 Tennessee?
Did Stanford lose to 5-7 Utah ?

Some times you miss a field goal or turnover or play a team with a Bye week.

This is ignorant and I could pick it apart if I had more time.

Briefly though he didn't adjust much against A&M in 2012. Bama just slowly crept back into it, but A&M still scored when they needed to and won.

Terrible troll on Gus in the NC game. I'll just assume you didn't watch the game.

Spurrier is the only one I would even entertain. The other ones have too small of a sample size or Les Miles and Richt....

They were down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and were only down 21-14 at half. How is that slowly creeping back into it?

So if Saban loses it is bad game day coaching, but if Auburn loses a game it should have won there are circumstances way out of Malzahn's control that caused it to happen?
