Yes but if they were an SEC team, their whole dynamic could change. They could be a direct force against Georgia for recruits and Atlanta people/recruits might not be such a sweep for Georgia. As it is now, Geo Tech is really not a factor.
GT not being a threat to UGA has nothing to do with them being in the SEC or not.
Bama, Auburn, and Clemson all provide more competition for in-state recruits than GT since the days of Bobby Dodd.
In FSU's and UF's glory days, they poached GA as well.

No. Atlanta is the unofficial capital of the South and home to the most assorted medley of SEC grads.
The SECCG is in December. If it is going to host some games outside of Atlanta, it should be in either Miami or Tampa.
I know some of you rubes love honky tonks and ribs, but that's not worth sitting outside for three hours in northern TN.

You are wrong. GT has a easy major - something called management something or other- that they channel their players into. As for that calculus requirement it’s not real calculus. It’s a basic math course that is even offered at Perimeter College. Many GT professors grade in the curve if there are athletes in the class. This are not huge secrets. All have been admitted to on the GT chat boards by alums and former athletes who were and are there

Who cares if the ACC moved its conference championship to Atlanta?
It would help with their recruitting to have their biggest game in a hot bed of recruiting. Tons of the kids in thearea could esily drive to the game.
Maybe you don't think recruiting is important?

Atlanta has a major airport, Amtrak terminal and countless hotel rooms. The college football hall of fame is just a few blocks from the incredible Mercedes’ Benz stadium. Lots of great restaurants and things to do. The game needs to stay in Atlanta

4 pages in and I'm sure this has already been said....
Move the game out of Atlanta and it never goes back.
Be careful what you wish for.
Doesn't nashville already get the basketball tournament?

So the answer is yes, Al Gore held office in Tennessee, lives in Tennessee and works out of Tennessee.

n 2009 there were 6 power conferences #1 SEC #2 B12 #3 B1G #4 PAC #5 BE #6 ACC ACC was at deaths door and waiting to picked apart by everybody else Fast Forward to now #1 SEC #2 ACC (B1G may have eyeballs but not championships) #3 B1G #4 PAC #5 B12 (about to become a G5 conference) #6 BE (dead as disco) If you do not see this, I do not know how to make it more obvious. No need to give up any territory if you are the super power and do not want the lesser power to take hold.
There is ONE school in the ACC that has made their conference still relevant in football and that’s Clemson. In the 90’s and early 2000’s you had Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech who could challenge the other conferences. That situation made for a stronger conference in football than what they have now. The SEC does not need to worry about a championship game staying in Atlanta to keep another conference from “moving in” on our territory. Georgia Tech is right there and they have so few fans in Atlanta and Georgia, it’s pitiful. We would show our strength throughout the south/southeast by actually moving the game around. New Orleans is tied with Miami for hosting the most Super Bowls and has way more experience than Atlanta with big events. There is no reason that it, along with Dallas, Houston, Nashville, Jacksonville should not get to host the SEC Championship. Most if not all of these cities are better destinations than Atlanta anyway. I lived there for over a decade. I know the experience.

Should they ever make it there, they deserve it.

Objection. Relevance.
One liberal does not make a liberal state. Al Gore is treated as a joke around here.
GA elects liberal senators. Currently.

Notre Dame is half in the ACC and would not surprise me if they go all in before ever joining the B1G
CFP
6 Clemson appearances
2 Notre Dame appearances (1 as ACC and 1 as IND)
1 Florida State appearance
0 for Utx - austin
0 for USC
0 for UCLA
0 for anybody in the B1G not in OH or MI
Right now the ACC is #2 in CFP appearances behind the SEC and that is not counting Notre Dame x 2 but counting Free Shoes U.

Did you learn nothing about the B1G adding Rutgers and Maryland? B1G did not care about those 2 schools, they cared about all the B1G alumni that had moved to those states after graduation. They di not care about Terp and Knight alumni as much as OSU and UM alumni now living in NJ and MD.
Same applies to Atlanta, LOTS of ACC alumni now call ATL home and they would love to fill the hole left if the SEC moved out. Stop thinking about just the ACC school in ATL and think about all the ACC alumni from all the ACC schools living in ATL.
NOLA - more SEC than ACC or B1G alumni
Nashville - more SEC than ACC or B1G alumni
TX - with BOTH Utx and TAMU means SEC owns the HOU and DFW
ATL is 50 - 50 or 60 - 40 so you want to hold that territory
In the BCS Era
28 B1G appearances
27 SEC appearances
22 B12 appearances
21 PAC appearances
18 ACC appearances (only 2 were Clemson)
16 B E appearances
4 Notre Dame appearances

Or maybe if Ga-Fl goes away.. do Jax. Already a great footprint on how to host.
Not a great airport either place really but most folks end up driving to ATL.
Hell no. If Atl. is "home field" for UGA, Jax. is "home field" for UF.
