Dang! That is ridiculous. When is Torina getting fired? We might just drop from middle of the conference pack to the bottom third next year if she’s still coaching. Woodward needs to do some hard work to find that next up and comer or diamond in the rough who can compete at the top level. Or is there someone out there at a power program who could be that person, just doesn’t have the resources? Don’t know what the answer is but Torina is not it.

Football, Women's Basketball, Baseball, Gymnastics and Men's T&F have all won National titles since the last time Torina's team even made the WCWS for goodness sake.

Agree with everything you wrote here. Is LSU content to have “good” seasons are do these young women deserve the coach that makes championships a real possibility? Torina has not done that on either a conference or national level in the past seven years. I think she started out and had a good run for some years but still never brought any titles to the young women who played for her. Time to scour the country and find the best possible candidate. With OU and Texas coming in, it’s only going to get tougher in the conference and may push some SEC teams out of the tournament with added losses to those teams. I think someone said she’s got two years left on her contract. I think it’s worth it to buy her out to give some of these these players a real shot while they’re still here.

Edit: According to the Tuscaloosa News salary rankings, Torina makes 430k/yr. 5th highest in the conference.

I just wonder how this makes any sense for Jay and his family. I’ve read, on this thread, that his wife is from Mandeville. That must play some role in whether he leaves or not. Georgia, no doubt has the best history but LSU has been the better program for a decade and why would you return to a program that fired you?

With so many games in a season In softball, there are days where even the best teams can lose, just like baseball and basketball. Until Torina at least wins a conference championship, I’ll question why we’ve kept her in the last few years. Initially I thought it was a great hire and she got us to a few WCWS. I think that hasn’t happened since 2017 and no SEC championships at all during her tenure. I hope this is the season where they make that leap but I wonder if another head coach could do better. She has as many resources as anyone else to get it done from what I’ve heard and read and all of the time in the world to recruit the best possible players. There really can’t be any more excuses.

As an LSU fan, I congratulate South Carolina. They had an awesome season. Staley is an amazing coach and recruiter. Don’t paint all LSU fans with a broad brush. That in itself is a bigoted point of view.
