In 1953, Bama was ranked #5 in the AP Preseason Poll, with 18 first place votes, and was coming off a 61-6 defeat of Syracuse in the Orange Bowl. Lost to Southern Mississippi COLLEGE (non-1A) in the opener. Doesn't get much worse than this.
Lost to them again in the 1954 opener. Don't know whether to or .

Honestly it's worse that we lost to a team that lost to Aggy. Toledo was a legit team last year and their coach is at Iowa St now

Exactly. You know your team is utterly worthless if that happens. Thank God there were some programs still beneath us after that loss.

What about OU 77 TAMU 0. Even though they weren't in the SEC at the time.

That game was 77-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Then Bob Stoops decided to play nice in the 4th and didn't score any points.
If I had been Stoops I would have forgotten about public relations and try to score 100 points. They were on pace for more than 100 points at the end of the 3rd.
I'm dead serious when I say that I would have gone for a 2 point conversion on 2 of the next 3 TDs. That way you can get to 100 points in 3 scores rather than 4.

Auburn started 1975 in the Top 10 (#5, I think) and lost at home to (then)Memphis State 31-20.

The most embarrassing Bama loss imo was Northern Illinois especially when that kid thugged out and punched a Northern Illinois player
