In SEC ratings, B-/C+

If he were coaching in another conference, solid B/B+

Has to be incredibly frustrating for the Auburn fans. Tuberville brought more fear to the LSU fans imo

Auburn had a ridiculous schedule this year, plus a lot of injuries. Potentially they were a Top 10 or better team. Look at the LSU game..

Get Malzahn some offensive stars and look out. The D was lights out.

The bowl game surprised me though. Must have been letdown/lingering injury problems.... I'll give him a B-

Shitty.

Gene gifted him a team in his first year. Since then he’s averaged 4.8 losses per year. He does own Coach Sabah - but that isn’t saying much.

For $7M, Auburn could do way better.

this is a demonstration in cherry picking stats and trolling 101. This graphic makes sure to exclude Gus' first year when he was gifted a 3-9 team and a transfer Juco CB for a QB, but definitely makes sure to include Sumlin's first year when he inherited a future Heisman winning QB. Got it.

The other important item this graphic fails to take into consideration is the out of conference opponents for both of these coaches. Sumlin's overall record is significantly propped up due to the absolutely laughable out of conference schedule A&M played every year. SMU, Sam Houston State, Rice, South Carolina State, and UTEP make up the vast majority of their Non-SEC wins. That of course compared to Washington State, @ Kansas State, Lousiville, and two games with Clemson in Gus' first 6 years. But we wouldn't want to let too many facts get in the way of this narrative.

He is a B- if you look at the accomplishments of Auburn historically.

You've got some of your numbers wrong.

Gus is a B-...it is what it is. If we had the same record but were losing the close games 42-45 I bet people would think different of him. The offense is offensive at times.

B-/C+ for me, but the offense being ineffective gets old and I understand why some Auburn fans are done with him

Losing to some mediocre UGA and LSU teams really dings his record.

On the positive side, Steele has been a great hire, has a good record against Saban, and his teams have never quit on him.

I’d say B-

He might have crept to a B+ if he didn’t get the shite beat out of him in bowl games.

You should’ve also done win loss records versus specific rivals in your OP.

Sumlin was at Texas A&N for 6 years.

The graphic compares his tenure to the last 6 years for Gus. If you choose to ignore those years in favor of one fluke, that is on you.

Sumlin had wins against Oklahoma, WVU, Arizona State, and UCLA. Let’s not cherry pick.

Looking at Auburn historically he's on par with with the accomplishments.Ups and downs.

An earlier poster described how I think of him,Houston Nutt with more talent.

I'd take the eight and nine win seasons right now,but if that's what he brings there, then his ceiling would be much lower here.

As far as his job at Auburn I'd give him a B.

As a coaching candidate,C-.

As an offensive coordinator going to a stacked team,A+

That's his forte.

Yes, well put it this way. Even though LSU is 5-2 against Auburn under Gus, the total score of those seven games is 172-165. In case you're wondering, that's an average score of 24.6 to 23.6.
