What's a fair grade for Malzahn after 7 years at Auburn ?

1 SEC Championship
2 SEC West division
7 Winning seasons
62-31 overall
34-24 Against SEC overall
27-22 Against SEC WEST
8-14 vs Top 10
19-21 vs Top 25
2-5 in Bowl Games

Obviously he's struggled with LSU & UGA but more importantly he's kept Alabama in check going 3-4 against Saban and winning 2 out of the last 3 Iron Bowls. I know most people rag on him including myself, mostly because of his inability to change. But hes at least done a B job at Auburn. Right?

The thing about Gus is he always plays us tough. Haven't we only won by a FG the last 2 times?

I think he does a really good job there. Lots of respect for him

I agree Malzahn is not a bad coach. He can recruit and he wins. When he learns to adjust midgame I think he can possibly win it all. The only group of fans that rag on him is Auburn fans.

Good. Could be great but AU usually has a tough schedule.

Considering it's Auburn, that's got to be an A+.

The 8-5 seasons and losing almost every bowl game brings him in at a C. Mediocre grade for a mediocre coach.

A- in seasons where Auburn is considered mediocre going into it.

C- in seasons where Auburn is supposed to be a contender.

B- overall.

He has overall done a solid job imo. He is kinda like Houston Nutt was at Arkansas but a little better due to better talent and resources. Has some good years and some down years, with some highly talented teams that just can’t quite get over the hump.

He stays in that gray area where you can justify keeping him or firing him but to fire him is a 50/50 dice roll of whether the next guy does better or your program goes to shite

Shitty.

Gene gifted him a team in his first year. Since then he’s averaged 4.8 losses per year. He does own Coach Sabah - but that isn’t saying much.

For $7M, Auburn could do way better.

If this is all Auburn is interested in, then keep him.

This is why it's probably time for a change.

This doesn’t make sense. He’s lost more than 2 games to the East, hell hes lost the last 5 vs East teams.

Like I said the only fanbase that rags on him are Auburn fans. This man has battle, Saban. No other coach can say that. Until this year no other coach can say that but Malzahn. The only other coach that has a win against him would be Ed O and that it.

He's recruited well, won some big games, and had 1 great season. However, he is an alleged offensive coach who has consistently had bad offenses and stubbornly refuses to make the necessary changes while shifting the blame to others.
