OU has a fine offense. The defense is suspect. We will see if last year is a trending up or an aberration.

You do know Texas is Top 5 in DL since 2000 for NFL Draft Picks
Isn’t slowing down. They have numerous NFL players on the DL depth chart

Everyone's point is that it was stars lining up, lightning in a bottle, insert third metaphor here kind of stuff. We got super lucky.

The biggest factor in 2012 was the fact that A&M starters lost one combined game to injury that season.

All you had to do was look at the 2013 defense to see how thin A&M was in 2012.

A&M only allowed 30 or more points once in 2012 and that was when four defensive starters were out against Louisiana Tech (starting LB, 2 starting DB suspended, 1 starting DB injured).

I like how Bama fans will entertain the notion that they were schematically challenged in the late 2000s, but will not entertain the thought that Texas wins that national title fairly easy with an experienced QB. We were averaging 12 yards a play running some basic arse jets and curl patterns. Our defensive line was unblockable in passing situations.

You do realize that Bama's starting QB had several broken ribs that game right?

I think most of us think you will have a much easier time than Texas. I referenced the OL being good enough already in the original post. Will score a ton and just have to put a defense out to get some stops. If y'all can start to field an SEC style dominant defense, look out.

Y’all dominated the conference in 2019 with the least impressive offensive line we faced all season.

You mean the Best Offensive Line of 2019?

That 2019 LSU OL led the way for that offense to dominate both Texas and OU.

If that OL was as bad as you say, that isn’t helping your argument.

Since A&M joined the SEC (2013-2021 drafts):

Texas A&M - 7
t.u. - 7

And the vast majority of those guys are NFL retirees at this point.

Jesus, are you guys ever going to stop living in the past?

This whole "Oklahoma cain't play defense" ended last year for anybody who was paying attention. Grinch is moving into his 3rd year and he has had our defense going almost straight vertical in about every defensive metric since he got here.

LSU was the last team to benefit from playing a one-dimensional Oklahoma team.

Pretty much contradicting the points that are brought up
Any school in a talent rich area will have DL depth
UT isn’t any different
Especially now with the new system brought in.

There is nothing impressive about TU's D line talent. I just looked at their past 4 recruiting classes. I saw one 4 star SDE that was impressive. I'm also pretty sure TU is the worst talent developers in all of college football using objective measures.

LOL UTA folks always have to include the Mack years in their stat even though it's a decade old and 2.5 recruiting/player cycles ago.

Also. remove him and the program looks a lot different since DKR.

Glass houses and all - could you not say literally the exact same thing about Phil Fulmer and Tennessee?

It’s the grind my man. Every week there is someone that can knock you off in this conference. As the season progresses and you realize you are in the hunt….. it’s a grind my man to the promise land!

Our defensive line is our deepest and most star studded position group. Y’all dominated the conference in 2019 with the least impressive offensive line we faced all season. Y’all are so corny with this bullshite narrative.

Seriously??? If 2019 LSU played y'all at midseason form, it'd have been a 40+ point bloodbath. Ask Oklahoma.

And to be honest with you, a lot of Texas high school football players are overrated. Not most, but a large number of them. They get a bump just for playing in Texas.

There's a reason that, since the 2019 class, that the majority of A&M's defensive commits have been from out of state.

2019:

-Texans: Leal, B. Williams, Richardson, Young, Mowry, Orebo
-Non-Texans: Blades, White, Hunter, K. Brown, A. Jones, Lee, Russell

2020:

-Texans: J. Jones, Phillips
-Non-Texans: D. Harris, M. Jackson, A. Johnson, Doyle, Diggs, Cooper, George, Moten, Raikes, Walker

2021:

-Texans: Turner, Adeleye, Burris, Harmon, Regis
-Non-Texans: Jeudy, J. Harris, Gilbert, Norwood, Chapell
