Dave Aranda moved his family from Madison, Wisconsin to Baton Rouge for the same position. Have you ever been to Waco, TX?

Great fishing around Waco.
Especially as you go East.
For the most part doesn’t have a great rep. 50 miles in Texas is like 10 in Louisiana. 50 mile radius isn’t too bad either
Aranda made some comments after leaving most likely won’t be an issue but could.

Could have been trying to make people feel like he was home.
It was about his Mexican ethnicity. How he couldn’t be himself at LSU.
People who are closer to the situation may understand what he was meaning.
He may have just been trying to jump in at Baylor.
Coaches who stay coaches turn any negative into a positive. Coaches who can’t are based on their ability to develop. You can have a few dead recruiters if you surround them by good ones. Let the recruit know he might not have a personality but he can get you into the NFL
How life is as a recruiter
Everyone gets recruited negatively. Even Alabama and Saban.
Fans aren’t as important as some think

NFL is

Why I would remove Cal?

Not just fluke players. Since 2011 almost 30 NFL draft picks including a lot of first rounders.
There are some issues there but not enough to where you can’t win consistently. Even cut some corners for Jeff Tedford. Not like they are totally foreign.

Interesting takes on the TCU program. For a while, they could argue having the best football and baseball teams in the state. With both coaches gone, this is a big spot to be in.

They’ve performed over their level for about 2 decades now. VERY few programs can make claims like that…Boise, maybe Utah

Follow LSU history
How does LSU have that many losses against Rice
Should be undefeated

All those schools in Texas are like that. Right coach wins. That is why coaches are always on the hot seat.
TCU has had two
Even Rice has had one

1961 LSU would have been NC but they lost to Rice to begin the season.
Not going through all of this but didn’t see anything about this in about 80% of this topic

Gary Patterson at one time was someone the NFL coaches would pick his ear over. Defenses in the NFL rapidly change and it is always hard to get things perfectly right but that 4-2-5 pretty much became the Seattle Seahawks. Pete Carroll is not a dummy. Well known after the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin people really started to believe

Watch the game. Very important game in the history of CFB and football in general
TCU at times had issues like any team would but for the most part TCU with a defense giving up a lot of size did pretty well against that football team

Problem always with college football is the talent pool. Don’t have it like NFL teams. Especially on defense.
The one position coaches started to substitute and that is LB.

Always liked Dave Aranda because he knew the LB position. Gary Patterson isn’t far off

Taking this back to LSU.
Aranda pretty much is one of the reasons you see Patterson out
Aranda is a better version of what GP made his money on. Evaluating.
Unlike Patterson Aranda doesn’t have a concern with offenses who sometimes hurt the defense
Hasn’t been that real connection
There is quite a few. A lot of that is oil business. As you get East the pull somewhat declines. Baton Rogue not like Lake Charles and Lafayette
People have connections to Houston or have lived there themselves. BR is on the other side of the state so you see a slight pull but there isn’t a single baseball team that dominates the area
You see Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs, Astros, Braves and Red Sox fans. Astros probably have the most. Alex Bergman helps here as well.
You never saw the Astros put a minor league club here and never saw them really market themselves as the team of Baton Rogue.
When there isn’t a defined center it happens all the time
This was already being predicted this afternoon though. Like I said it was the reason why the NHC issued the hurricane watch.

But this still isn’t much of a defined center. Just one area with stronger winds and lower barometric pressure. Still isn’t defined as a center of a cyclone.

This could happen sometime tomorrow. At least it could be close enough to the coast so even with rapid intensification it won’t intensify too much.

The authorities here in Matagorda County were informed earlier this could happen by the NHC and NWS Houston.
They were thinking a Lower Texas Coast landfall was very unlikely
GFS model actually had the bullseye on Houston.
Somewhat lining up now with the latest advisory

Reason why they issued a hurricane watch earlier. As of now looks like making a Matagorda Bay landfall as a strong TS with possible hurricane level gust.

I’m in Alvin, TX and flooded during Harvey……I’m sweating bullets with this one.

Don’t blame you. Some of the models have that area targeted for heavy rainfall.

But I doubt it will be anything like Harvey. Maybe at most half the amount of rain
Texas and OU drops off after football
Arkansas doesn’t.
This has a lot to do with the fact that OU and Texas weren’t in the same conference

The level of hate from Arkansas is in every sport
They want to beat Texas in something. Actually one of the main reasons why they got so good in basketball
You see it with Eric Mussleman this week.
Arkansas was the only non Texas school in the SWC so they developed a little dick mentality when it comes to Texas.
Win or lose people from Texas still carry their head high because they are Texans. Have a lot to be proud about
Wasn’t the case with Arkansas. They developed this obsession with winning against Texas schools especially The University of Texas

SEC saw some of this when Arkansas first joined and they tried to attach themselves to LSU. Made that their replacement.

School you don’t want to win because they get loud and proud.

Except Arkansas blends into the most Southern place on Earth…The Delta

Huge difference. Funny nevertheless. Something about hollers and incest go together

Morgantown is very close to Pittsburgh
A lot of the people there are similar to the people in Pittsburgh
Plus you have a lot of B1G fans in the state because of Ohio State and Penn State

They are a Rust Belt school
If they brought something to the table I would see why some support them but because they don’t I really don’t see why they are ever brought up

VA Tech is probably a better choice.
Supposedly they don’t have to pay for it

Big 12 couldn’t add more schools unless there is a change with the media contract
Extending the media contract allows ESPN to get any school they choose released from GOR

Pretty much the Big 12 schools didn’t have much of a choice
They needed ESPN to extend the media contract. ESPN controlled expansion by handpicking the schools
Now ESPN can control when they put Texas and OU into the SEC

That 80 million per school is short term money
Not worth losing 10-15 million in revenue for.

Pretty simple. Would you rather get $1000 today or get 40 dollars everyday for a month
Short term or Long Term

ESPN controls almost all of the media contracts for G5 schools
They could have sent Baylor to the WAC if they wanted to
About $$$$

Reason they left in the beginning. Didn’t have a thing to do with Texas

This is why message boards narratives get out of wack.
People start believing things that aren’t based on reality

Texas is the largest market for CFB
SEC didn’t want the state to be up for grabs.
They have full control of the state now.
You can do the research if you want. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma
Texas is by far the largest state for SEC alumni.

Texas and OU not in the SEC allowed whatever conference they were in to establish a footprint.
Oklahoma just like LSU and Arkansas have a large presence in the state.

Goes back to Roy Kramer’s original plan in 1990.
Get Texas.
At that time the SEC only had a small presence through LSU and the Mississippi schools
Things have quickly changed.
You are living off in your own reality. They just won the Director’s Cup and continue to make more money than anyone
There is no way you can kill Texas. You can hurt them in some areas but they will just regrow in others.
Too big of a state that is still growing. A&M fans should understand that.
Pretty clear we have some people still ignorant about this decision.

Texas in the ACC would have given that conference the ability to stick around. Meaning that it is a threat in 4 different SEC states

Texas in the B1G would have given that conference an anchor in a talent rich state

This was pretty much having them in the SEC tent pissing out of it
Instead of them on the outside pissing in

Not much these other conferences can do. I guess the B1G can wait until the ACC GOR ends.
But UNC, UVA and GA Tech won’t change much.

This decision just goes to show how selfish the A&M fanbase really is
They would screw this entire conference for their own benefit
We know Texas in the SEC hurts A&M but them outside of it hurts the other 13 schools and could eventually hurt A&M as well

You are getting filtered info. Just matters who the information is filtered through

More than that this doesn’t have a thing to do with was he a take or not
He could have been #1 on the list

It was well known from the beginning that academics were at play here.
This was a decision basically about what football program gave him the chance to get a quality degree

What you are mentioning is unimportant and has nothing at all to do with his recruitment.
Like I said he could have been #1 on the list. He most likely wasn’t going to pick Alabama

I was incorrect
She isn’t a college professor but works for the local schools there in Birmingham
Nevertheless they are very educated people and are people that Birmingham should be proud about
