I’d live on Lake Martin in Alabama or in the foothills of East Tennessee.

Tenn. My sister lives there and it seems nice where she lives.

Alabama’s state motto is “ Thank God for Mississippi”.

Alabama has mountains and beach.

And doesn't have Memphis.

But, I admit Tennessee is absolutely beautiful as well, and their temperatures are probably nearer to perfect. I like Alabama, but our summer starts no less than 2 weeks earlier and lingers no less than 2 weeks more.

I live in Crossville, TN on the Cumberland Plateau at 2,000ft elevation and I have to say it's much nicer in the summer than most of the rest of the state. I believe we average 3 days a year where the temperature gets to 90 degrees and that's it. A lot of years we don't get to 90 for the whole year.

It snows more in the winter, but I'd rather that than 100 degree urban heat like Nashville, Knoxville, or Memphis get.

Retired to Bon Secour Al in 2020. Live 10 min from the GS beaches 10 min to Mobile Bay, 10 min to Magnolia Springs and Jesse's. 5 min to Tin Top and Billy's Seafood...

1hr to Pensacola... (frick Mobile, except for Felix' on the causeway) Fairhope, Foley, Elberta (Road Kill Cafr), Ft Morgan etc. More great restaurants than you can name within 30 min.

Imma from Atl, lived there for 60yrs, UGA '77 but I love it down here as a place to grow old...

JMHO....

Avoid western Tennessee and central Alabama and both states are great places to live.

I have a daughter in Huntsville and another daughter in Brentwood. Both beautiful areas. I would be happy in either state, but I have two daughters in St. Tammany Parish, so that's where the wife told me to live.

I’ve got nothing against either state. I’ve been to both multiple times. I could live in either, but there are others I’d prefer to live in.

The original question was about choosing between Tennessee and Alabama. I chose Tennessee.

Unless you’re talking eastern Tennessee around the Smokies, or South Alabama down at the Gulf, the vast majority of the two states aren’t really that much different. Both are nice with mostly good, honest Southern people.

Both.

TN mountains in the Summer.

Bama beach in the Winter.

Bama beats down TN on Saturday, though.

Dixieland Delight.

I’m from Tennessee originally but have lived in Alabama as well (Huntsville). Went to Nashville for my birthday. For the first time in memory, I-65 was damn near a parking lot from Old Hickory down to 396. It used to take me 45 minutes from Nashville to Columbia. Not happening now

Eastern TN or northern AL; I like the Huntsville area; also like Gulf Shores but mountains>beach for me. So Chattanooga area would be about right.

Bama just for Gulf Shores. Besides, I hate the cold.
