What program has the most to lose this football season?

For me it has to be the University of Alabama. Nick Saban's goal at Bama has always been to win the same number of titles as the Bear. Paul W. Bryant won 6 AP national titles in his career at ALabama. (only five that I recognize but that is another topic) Saban currently has 5 championships at Bama. This season will most likely be the most prolific Bama offense in Saban's tenure. If Saban wins a national title, there is a decent chance that he retires to his lake-house that he won't shut up about. Who in your opinion has the most to lose going into this season?

Nobody. Life will go on just fine no matter what happens.

Aubarn or LSU. Bad seasons and their coaches are on the hot seat

I meant at Bama. Thanks for catching that.

I don't think the programs have much to lose but some coaches do.

He's got at least 7 years left.

If you think that's what saban cares about, you are sadly mistaken.

1.) Georgia - Great team, talent, winnable path in the east. They can't sh*t the bed.
2.) State - 18 returning starters, they have teams like this every 5-6 years
3.) LSU - They're losing grip with a rising A&M program, they could be the new Tennessee if they don't take care of business.

Georgia. Do we get the 2017 Georgia team or the 2016 Georgia team?
It's not Alabama. Even if this is the year the dynasty ends, that program has already accomplished one of the most amazing things in CFB history. I expect Bama to win the SEC pretty easily this year. But I felt the same way in 2010 now didn't I

Georgia and LSU.
ALabama's been there. If they have a shite year, not that big of a deal.
Georgia MUST keep momentum. Until they take home the NC hardware, they have to keep the level of play high and make the playoffs.
LSU is clinging to has-been elite status. Another average year could set them back even further, especially if they lose to Aggy.

Saban doesn't want to tie The Bear's record ... he wants to exceed it, surpass it, leave it in the dust.
Saban wants no questions asked or debated about who was the best. He wants to record the unbreakable record.
Saban is shooting for eight or nine, or perhaps even ten titles. And in the process he wants to surpass The Bear's SEC wins total if possible.
Then he'll retire.
The only thing that will make Saban retire earlier is if he is no longer making the CFB playoffs and if he starts losing three or four games a year and he sees his game faliing-off.
He's nowhere near that yet.
Saban wants to be the Gengis Khan of college football. He wants to leave a legacy of domination like no other has before him and like no other will after him.

I could see some programs getting into some trouble with bad seasons. If Pruitt is a bust at UT, they'll have at least one more year with him and be staring down yet another coaching search. LSU could be forced to pay like $8.5M to go away OR be stuck with him for another year if it's not bad enough (which may actually be the worse option). Jimbo falling flat on his face (yes, very unlikely) would be problematic for the program due to how much money they have tied up in guarantees. Florida is in a similar (but less explosive) situation with Mullen, and there already seems to be some issues there.
For my money, UT is the one whose issues are most likely (still not super likely) to happen and could be most damaging. That program's status has eroded dramatically in the last 10 years. They don't have the built-in recruiting base like Florida to recover if Mullen flops there. Jimbo is a proven head coach, so he may not live up to his money but should be decent enough.

Probably AtM.
Big money for a coach for a team that has some talent.
He's not going to be fired but expectations exceed what he, or his new team, have been able to meet recently. I see no reason for the mediocrity trend to change this year.

MSU by far.
Either they have a good season or Florida fricked them.

I’m gonna guess something inbetween. We are young/inexperienced in some key spots. Early SEC games could be rough.

Frankly, the $37mm Auburn guaranteed to Gus is more material to AU than $75mm to aggy.

That’s a good point, considering that there is no way we want Jimbo fired after one season while we all know Auburn fans could be ready to fire Gus in December if things go Chiz 2011 this season.
