I'd like to say LSU, but would LSU losing enough to fire Orgeron really be a bad thing for the program?

I get your sentiment, but can LSU's athletic department afford to pay 3 coaches at the same time (Miles, Coach O and a new head coach)? To me, LSU is at a crossroads. Are they going to return to the glory years where them and Alabama were the top of the west every year, or are they going to slip (further) into mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Therefore, I think at least in the west, they have the most to lose this year.

I will agree with you in the east, that I think UGA has the most to lose. UF and Tennessee have new coaches, Vandy is perpetually down, and Ky and SC are generally average teams.

While I don't the UGA wins it all this year, I think they have the most to lose. Why? Expectations of their fan base. After last years performance, and their successes on the recruiting trail their fans are expecting the same again this year. If they lose a couple of games their fanbase could begin to be unhappy and start to rumble. And as we all know a few disgruntled fans on social media can go a long way to sewing strife in a program.

I think so, yes. Additionally, if Orgeron is fired, then there would be a trickle effect down to Alleva. The LSU AD has always had the money. It's more the people in charge worried about the "optics" of spending money on athletics with other issues in the state economy, regardless of the fact that LSU doesn't use state money to pay for athletics. LSU needs someone in charge who doesn't care what uninformed people may think. This is a somewhat similar crossroads they faced before they hired Nick Saban....a cheap AD without balls needing to be shown his place.

LSU. No coach will have a hotter hot seat going into next year than Ed O if they go 7-5 or 6-6

eta - Maybe Derek Mason if Vandy sucks. Meant no coach at a program that matters** will have a hotter seat going into next year

Right? What would happen if they went 9-3 and didn't make the playoffs? The horror.

I'd have to say LSU is in the biggest danger spot. So many wolves at the door recruiting-wise, if they throw up a bad season.

Wouldn't that hang over Alabama's head every year?

LSU

Huge amount of in state talent in the 2019 class.

Could disappear if we really fall apart

Also Os buyoutnis a lot of money to lose.

That is the most intelligent explanation I have ever seen on the Rant about Saban’s motivation. Well played.

What program has the most to lose this football season?

Texas A&M losing 4 to 5 games and spending a ton of money to get rid of a good coach to hire another good coach and not improve their record.

Even worse to go the next 4 years averaging 4 losses per year.
