The program with the most to lose is ...

SC .... mUSChamp must continue to build, he cannot afford a set-back. If he falters in his third year then comparisons will began to be made to his Florida tenure.

Auburn ... Gus has had big expectations laid on him headed into this season. It's a ten win season or else for Gus. People will start questioning that new contract.

A&M ... they'll be happy with eight wins, thrilled with nine. Seven wins and Jimbo will get a pass but it needs to be seven wins and five losses with enthusiasm and energy shown in every game. A single miscue, a bad loss ... and that $75 million will be held over his head like the proverbial piano about to drop.

And then there is Florida. Mullen is being touted as the QB whisperer. A man who can make lemonade out of lemons. He's gonna save UF from itself. But let UF win only six or seven games and that job will tighten around him faster than a taterhead drops his nickers in a barn full of suckling calves. Florida is a pressure cooker and they've got more fickled fans than Doans has little green pills. If Mullen shows any kinks in his armour, if Gator fans do not see any method in his madness, and given how poorly Mullen seems to be on the recruiting trail ... things could go sour in Gainesville really quickly.

Those are the programs with the most to lose this season because those are the programs with the most to gain as well.

Kentucky: Truth be told, if the Cats don’t win 9 and beat Florida and Tennessee, all fans except the few fanatics will lose interest for another 10 years.

I remember the story of the sobbing man after the FL game, but are you all actually feigning interest now?

To be honest, I don’t really care. I don’t watch football anyway. Just telling you how it is from a UK fan with his ear to the ground.

I think your school will go backwards if the team goes 7-5 or worst.

What kind of man doesn't watch football? I mean, even Aggies watch football.

I would say Georgia. If we have a bad season it could cost us all the momentum that we have built up. recruiting would suffer in the next year or so, and we might lose a couple/few recruits out of this class.

Saban doesn't want to tie The Bear's record ... he wants to exceed it, surpass it, leave it in the dust.
Actually, I don't think this is the case.

I honestly believe Saban doesn't give a damn about Bryant's record at Bama, or the number of titles he won, or statues on the campus, or any of that shite.

I don't think Saban even cares about his own legacy.

I think he's still where he is for two reasons: first, because Ms. Terry is OK with his workload (still believe she has the final say in his career decisions), and second, because he's actually enjoying coaching. Quite possibly more than he ever has since becoming a full-time HC 23 seasons ago.

He'll be roaming the Tide sidelines until either of those conditions change. How many championships he wins between now and then wont make a difference.

In answer to the OP, I'll go with TAMU. I think they're expecting an immediate ROI from Jimbo, and I'm not sure he's up to the task. But in the end, most of the SEC has mitigating circumstances this year, so unlike 2017 there won't be any "make or break" situations outside of possibly UK.

I will bet Aggy lawyers and P.I.s are on high alert for the next 10 years. Jimbo will be under the "conduct" microscope with that deal. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have 10 for-cause reasons to fire him locked and loaded.

I think it could be UGA, but I don't think there is any obvious answer. If Alabama is not in contention it will be pretty newsworthy, but unless they go 8-4 nobody will think they've lost too much momentum. If Auburn goes 7-5 or something, it would be pretty bad but I'm not sure what we'll have lost considering people expect us to swing back and forth so much anyway.

UF/UT could both start off on the wrong foot with an outright shitty season. Same for A&M. I'm not sure we should really buy any MSU hype, but I guess they could squander a good opportunity this season.

I'd probably say UGA or LSU. Even if UGA doesn't truly compete for the playoff, winning 10 or 11 games will keep them in the discussion with Clemson and Alabama and will continue to sell the narrative that Kirby is Saban-like. That sense of infallibility is important in recruiting, I think. If UGA comes back to earth with 3-4 losses, I think it calls into question whether UGA is ultimately going to stay in that top category. Nobody expects Kirby to be Saban, of course, but I suspect being in that conversation as a truly perennial title competitor is very important for UGA/Smart if they want to continue the trajectory from last season.

For LSU, the worst outcome is probably a 7-8 win season that doesn't get Ed O fired. LSU is a big enough program that nothing that happens will be fatal, but they don't want to be stuck in a tier below their normal level for very long.

Must be a young ear

UK has been bad for. most of my life but they still have a core of old fans who will go no matter what. MB did more damage with the re seating than any bad year UK has played football. When you move the fans who have been sitting next to each other for the past 25 to 50 years that did the real damage.

Never forget the fans who come when you are not winning. They may have less money but they will actually sit in the seats.

As far as fans on here are concerned...Georgia. If they do not win the East or honestly if they don't win 10 games in the regular season, it is going to be a looooong year for them with all the talking they've done.

As far as what teams have the most to lose, I'd say Miss State and A&M. If State has a poor season, things could go downhill quickly in Starkville with the guys they'll lose after this season. If A&M has a poor season with Jimbo, I think a lot of heads will be rolling in College Station after dropping all that money on him.

I'd like to say LSU, but would LSU losing enough to fire Orgeron really be a bad thing for the program?

Florida isn't a bad answer either. If Mullen isn't winning and isn't recruiting, they're kind of fricked.
