Politics... and this is historically the danger LSU has faced.

Good Ol'Boy network ruled LSU for decades, then Emmert and Saban told them to get lost.
Surprisingly (or not), Miles kept them out too, and won enough to survive for a decade. And as much as we Tigers fans love to bitch about Miles' schemes, that was the most successful decade in LSU history.

Ed Orgeron is pandering to that network; we've had politicians ride with the team to SEC away games (google things, you will see the governor rode with the team to the Tennessee game). You see the governor sitting at the Heisman ceremony, like he's a part of the program or something. You see Orgeron shmoozing with politicians all the time; and Louisiana politicians are the lowest of slime.
Never saw that with Saban or Miles.

It's imperative we purge this with the next head coach, or things will go back to the way it used to be; LSU being a decent program that can't get out of its' own way.

Texas has gone fully “woke,” become a liberal shithole. That’s why it’s football team will become irrelevant.

We have way more in state talent than Tennessee Michigan and Nebraska and Texas isn’t on our level so how can we become the next Texas?

They have 1 NC since the 1970.

FSU had 3 national titles since 1990 including one just a few years ago. They still fell apart.

It can happen, but you have to make multiple bad mistakes.

One difference is that Texas has to compete with a bunch of Power 5 schools for instate recruits. LSU has the inherent advantage of being the only big-time program in Louisiana.

Ehhh, the state of Texas also has 100 more division 1 prospects every year than Louisiana so this isn’t an advantage LSU has over a Texas or Florida State, and LSU also has to fight off other programs for big prospects every year. USC, UCLA, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M have all gotten good players out of there that LSU wanted. They will always get the bulk of them, but without an elite coach, the typical postion makeup of LA blue chip prospects isn’t enough to compete for titles on a consistent basis.

As opposed to well known bastions of right wing politics like the University of Oregon and Ohio State?

Texas has made some horrible bust coaching hires. Michigan, neb, tenn, arent near the same as LSU in their recruiting footprint. Texas will be back, just a matter of time and is the only program that is like lsu that u listed. LSU will he fine. Theres a reason lsu and miami are the only 2 programs to win nattys with 3 consecutive coaches, and 2 of those coaches are average with the other being saban.

With a woke-leftist administration controlling the direction of the school, people will actually look back at 2019 a hundred years from now and say "Did you know LSU actually won the title? Yeah, in the early 2000s they actually were considered a powerhouse".

They'll be looked on the same way we talk about the 1920s Vandy football teams. An interesting trivia nugget, nothing more.

I hate to break it to you but this is true of nearly every major university in this country.

Crazy how that is yet ANOTHER parallel to LSU currently.

The two schools/programs are almost mirroring eachother, except LSU is about 10 years behind UT in the fledgling football department. The admin and AD at LSU should look to Austin like the ghost of Christmas future if they want to see where they end up on their current trajectory.

The only team you listed with the talent instate to never be irrelevant is Texas but Texas has everyone around them poaching players. Kids in Louisiana don’t get poached nearly at the rate that Texas does.

Compare Texas with LSU in terms of talent. LSU has less overall instate talent than Texas, but when you consider the talent per capita and the fact that LSU has no other major instate schools to compete against for instate talent I would argue that LSU has access to more nfl caliber talent than the Longhorns.

Don’t think y’all will have to worry about becoming the next Nebraska or Tennessee or even Texas.

Is that really true? I have heard people call Austin "Berkeley of the South". I thought they were exaggerating.

The whole reason Woodward is here is to make the next football coach hire.

Won't happen at LSU due to in-state talent. We got the player talent. We can usually bring in decent coordinators. We just can't seem to draw a coach who can coach them up like Saban. But we don't need that necessarily to be a 10-2 team. We just need a good coach who can coach, recruit and not be an embarrassing buffoon.
