Texas, The State of ..., The University of ..., and the people and companies that choose to locate and live here, make money. Lot's of it. Always have and always will.

Given that The Moody Center sits on the some of highest priced real estate in the footprint of the SEC, "paying your on way" and the cost/benefit ratio is prioritized in every decision.

First and foremost, The Moody Center is a Music Venue, a world class music venue in "The Live Entertainment Capital of the World". Acoustics and sight lines were paramount in the design. They also have The University of Texas sports in there.

The Moody Center probably has the the highest utilization rate, and the highest revenue stream of any non-football venue in the SEC, or college sports for that matter. The ownership group includes George Strait and Matthew McConaughey, two Texas icons in the entertainment world. George Strait escorting and welcoming Bruce Springsteen to the Moody Center is unique to Austin.

Texas is in the middle of a $6 Billion Capital campaign, the centerpiece being a MD Anderson Cancer Center affiliated with the UT-Dell Medical School. Texas may have some issues, money isn't one of them.

The Moody Center was always envisioned as a UT public-private partnership, as the University would never spend $375 Million on a basketball arena. It took a number of iterations to get the right mix of ownership and business partners, who would pay for something owned by UT.

One of the unique features of Tiger Stadium and I don't know if this has been mentioned before but, the North Stadium Dormitories.

LSU combined a football stadium expansion with dormitories for students and the idea is credited largely to T.P. “Skipper” Heard, LSU’s graduate manager of athletics, who proposed building student housing underneath expanded stadium seating. Governor Huey P. Long supported the idea, and the plan moved forward. Instead of building dorms somewhere else on campus, LSU literally built rooms inside the structure of the stadium.

The North Stadium expansion was completed in 1936 and enclosed the north end of the stadium, creating the horseshoe shape that became iconic. The expansion added approximately 24,000 seats and included about 1,250 additional dorm rooms. At their peak, the stadium dormitories housed around 1,500 students.
