So who is Nashville Metro's rival? Knoxville Metro? Knoxville Metro is probably the best city in the state of TN.

Memphis and to a lesser extent probably Atlanta now that Nashville is trying to become the new Atlanta

so Atlanta metro is better than Nashville metro?

I don’t have an opinion on what is “better” nor was there any implication of such in my post. I’m from Memphis, lived in Atlanta for 4 years and have now lived in the Nashville area for about 3 years. Nashville has basically gone from having a smaller metro area than Memphis to a larger one and one of the fastest growing cities in America. It feels very much like a smaller version of Atlanta (culture is falling by the wayside, horrendous traffic, ton of transplants, etc). And trying to purchase a home here without going broke is a battle in futility because incomes still haven’t caught up with the real estate market.

You are correct. Memphis is not the transient city. Atlanta is. And you are also correct about Nashville’s evolving rivalry with Atlanta, although it is a one sided rival. I am sure Atlantans do not consider us worthy.

that's a complete lie. Memphis is basically the exact opposite of a transient city. Most of the people who live in Memphis are from there or the surrounding areas in North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas. And people from Memphis go out of their way to tell people where they're from. Memphis is actually like a really big small town. Everyone I know who has relocated to Memphis talks about how hard it is to meet new friends because everyone else grew up together. Atlanta and Nashville, those are transient cities in the South, not Memphis
You do not live her so you do not know. I agree about Nashville and Atlanta. But I have over 300 clients and maybe 20% say they are from here. The rest are here because of work. FedEx, AutoZone, International Paper, etc. The people I know outside of work who live here are the same way. One maybe from here but there spouse is from somewhere else.
Now I can see why no one wants to say they are from Memphis. That I understand.

I have lived here for the last 20 years. Second time living here. Lived in East Memphis, Cordova, Germantown, and now Collierville. Same in all 4 places. I have a good friend who lives in MidTown (from Jackson, MS) and his friends and girlfriend are not from here either.
Maybe where you lived that was the case but not where I lived/live.

Went to school in East Memphis and lived in Germantown from 1985-2011, so basically the exact same area. You’re just wrong, bud

Nashville is cool (if a little oversold) but I don't think of it as a rival for Atlanta. And I don't mean that in a little brother/not worthy way. It's less than half the size and people are attracted to the two cities for pretty different reasons.
I'm sure the cities will compete in many ways, but at least with New Orleans there is some history of comparability, even if the cities aren't that similar now.

Or maybe you have a small group of people you know. That is fine. That is the way it was when I grew up in St. Louis.
Collierville wants to be like Franklin. You live in Franklin. Is Franklin all home grown good ole boys and girls??

I grew up in NE Alabama. In Jacksonville. 3 words. OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL. We could not beat them. We finally ended a 15 year drought in 1984 and that little town went nuts. Still one of the greatest days in my life. Sounds trivial but they had state championships, area titles, thought they were better and usually were. it was a big deal. I still can't stand them.
