I’m from Jax Beach, so I guess our rival would be Ponte Vedra. If Jacksonville’s Beaches were related to Orange County, Jax Beach would be like Huntington Beach, and Ponte Vedra is more like Newport or Laguna Beach.

As for the city of Jacksonville, idk if it has a rival. Everyone in Jax seems cool with Tampa and Orlando, and vice versa. The people who rip Jax the most are either South Floridian Snow-birds (who aren’t even from Florida) who say Jax isn’t ‘Real Florida’ , or ATL Georgia fans who come to Jax and only visit the Landing and the Jags Stadium, and they think that’s all Jax is. I hate both these types, but I wouldn’t consider ATL or Miami/ Ft Lauderdale rival cities, because they are much bigger markets, and not really comparable.

Charlotte is obviously significantly larger, so to some degree they are in different leagues, but lots of the business leaders there were pissed when Raleigh made the list of finalists for Amazon's HQ2 and Charlotte didn't. I've noticed some Raleigh people downplay what a nice downtown Charlotte has. I read media from both places and they both take swipes at each other. It's funny though bc the two cities have so much more in common than they do with the rest of the state.

Charlotte is a huge banking and finance base, but Raleigh-Durham has a more dynamic economy and is big in biotech, software, pharmaceutical, education, and healthcare. It has the largest research park in the country and three major universities within 25 miles of each orher. That's why Raleigh made Amazon's new HQ list.

Yeah, not the case. Most Memphians love visiting Nashville.

Not sure where this BS started.

I live in Thomasville, Ga....There's 2 high schools there. Thomas County Central and Thomasville High. The rivalry has been kind of lopsided in favor of TCC the last 20 years or so since TCC grew and Thomasville High moved down a couple of classes.

But in 1993, these 2 teams were in the same classification and region, ended up in different playoff brackets, and played each other for the AAA state title.

TCC won it, 14-12. Helluva game. Came down to a goal-line stand with less than 2 minutes left, and Thomasville High turned the ball over on downs. Mike Bobo was the Thomasville High QB. ESPN was even there to put it on their old high school sports program.

Moved away after elementary school, but I was ‘07. Siblings were ‘99 and ‘00. That was Morgan’s heyday in football. My brother got 3 rings. 2 over Wilcox and 1 over Mobile Christian

I'm from New Orleans. Growing up, the rival was Atlanta. Then, Atlanta got too large and rich for us to rival. Of course, we own the "we have the culture and food here." Hooray! TLDR

I'd agree with another poster that it's Mobile, AL today. Of course, Mobile will probably surpass NOLA too...

Don't get me wrong, I'll always love New Orleans and Louisiana, but we're so far behind concerning progress. shite, this is turning into something for the Poli board.

that town just south of you (Franklin) is the shite. Appeared to be a terrific place to live and raise a family when I was there quite a few years back.

I’m from Kingstree, S.C so our rival would be C.E Murray or Lake City. Lake city has historically beat us. So I would say Lake City

I thought Kingstree and Hemingway were rivals. Hemingway is probably more of a rival to Johnsonville though.

It has always been Charleston. Just this year they re-took the largest city in the state title from Columbia

DFW area so Houston.

If we are actually talking tiny hometowns, then my 30,000 person hometown of Cleburne (20 miles south of Fort Worth), then our biggest rival was Joshua, and we owned the rivalry in every sport.

Memphis just doesn’t have the demographics for football. It’s either upper class or lower class. Not a big enough middle class.

Memphis is a transient city. No one is from here or will admit they are from Memphis. I have lived here for 16 yrs and Louisville is the only time I hear the word hate. And that is only in college basketball and those heydays maybe over. Unless Penny can turn it around

Belle Meade isn't Nashville. It is it's own city. Try again.

Ok, how about Franklin Road area where the Governor’s mansion is? Or the Belmont Blvd area? Or West Meade?

How come a State fan knows some much about Nashville anyway?

Belle Meade is still part of the Nashville Metro area and 15-20 minutes from downtown Nashville. It is 100% where old money Nashville lives. But since when are suburbs not included when talking about a large city?

that's a complete lie. Memphis is basically the exact opposite of a transient city. Most of the people who live in Memphis are from there or the surrounding areas in North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas. And people from Memphis go out of their way to tell people where they're from. Memphis is actually like a really big small town. Everyone I know who has relocated to Memphis talks about how hard it is to meet new friends because everyone else grew up together. Atlanta and Nashville, those are transient cities in the South, not Memphis.
