Houston is much bigger and wealthier than Huntsville(my hometown), but at Marshall Space Flight Center and NASA we have a bit of rivalry with them for federal funds, research grants, and jobs to some extent. Of course, this is a sports board and I would say Decatur school system is my hometown's biggest rival.

My hometown has about 8000 residents, our rival is the county seat which has about 2500 residents.
When the county was formed little logging towns popped up and the original county seat was a planned community that didn't attract enough settlers and was eventually abandoned by the 1880s. My hometown, being the largest in the county, built a courthouse, inherited all the records, and became the county seat. Then one Christmas the residents of our rival town raided us, stole everything, and made themselves the seat. We've been enemies ever since...but we have the Wal-Mart, the Menards, the Farm and Fleet, and the Shopko though while they've got the DMV and one stoplight.

I have never heard anyone say that they hate Nashville.
Memphis just doesn’t have the demographics for football. It’s either upper class or lower class. Not a big enough middle class.
