1963. When SEC football was still whites only.

Did they give you a paper trophy for this on paper accomplishment? Just curious.

Pre nil, portal I would agree with you. I’m guessing here but if that Nashville money wants to pump millions into nil, what’s stopping Vandy? They came close to beating Bama again. Kentucky? Same. What if that blue blood bourbon horse racing money wanted to make Kentucky competitive? I think they could. Certainly Texas, A&M, OU have that cattle and oil money.

It will all depend on whether they continue to let nil run wild or cap it.

Alabama and Auburn don’t have the money some others have.

Arkansas is the real head scratcher with all that Jerry jones, Walmart, Tyson foods money.

Football is forever changed. I’m kool with it. I’ve experienced what any fan would want. Being at Nattys and winning. It was Great!!!

While I disagree with the OP silly to think Texas isn't part of the "can win it the next 20 years" club.
he didn’t say Texas isn’t part of that group

He also didn’t say that Bama, LSU and Georgia aren’t

You did not win the SEC last year, in fact you got destroyed in the SEC championship game

I don't know what your definition of destroyed is, but I don't think that game was it. 22-19 in OT

Y’all did take out Beck in that game, this derailing any chance Jawja had of a college football playoff run. See, your goal was achieved

Everything is bigger in Texas...including their perception of reality and ego.

Their defense is elite. Sayin hasn’t seen pressure yet. Texas D was elite for the opener but OSU should coast through their schedule. The Big Ten is top heavy and they don’t get USC, Indiana or Oregon this year. I’m disappointed in the scheduling but they did beat a pretty good Washington on the road. Illinois was pretty overrated. But if you don’t have teams in there like that, you can’t put in G5 teams or it waters down the poll.

SEC has some serious depth among its top 8 or 9 teams this year. Big ten maybe four or five, perhaps 6.

How anyone could write this and hit submit much less not immediately close the tab, shut their laptop and go lie down is staggering.

No actually it was the usual teams like baylor tcu kansas and ok state kicking your arse for 10 yrs til yall had to make a secret deal with Sankey to save your program.

That's fact and your other bs is fantasy.

Then NIL happened and we won it on our way out..

Yes, everyone played a little loose with NCAA rules back in the pre-NIL days, the difference is Texas was one of the schools where the real BMD's refused to play in the mud because they valued their professional reputations far more than getting their alma mater a few more wins per year.

We replaced the programs that ran away from us with TCU and West Virginia.

Team records vs. Texas from 2012-2023
TCU: 8-4
West Virginia: 5-5
Baylor: 4-7
Kansas: 2-9
Oklahoma State: 7-5

I'll give you that Gundy had our number. But the replacements absolutely came in and kicked our asses in a way the programs that ran away could only dream of.

…after playing the easiest SEC schedule in history

Texas played 7 teams from the bottom 8 in the conference last season. The only team in the upper half, UGA, beat them by double digits at Texas. Then smacked them again with their backup QB again. It was embarrassing. But they “won the conference on paper” ? Snicker.

You won 3 national titles in 8 years,60 years ago, then one more 20 years ago. But nothing else in your 130 years. Yet you strut around here like a peacock in front of programs that have won multiple titles since your last one: UF, LSU, UGA & Alabama, and Auburn who has also won one since you.

And no, we don’t care about your parcheesi, scrabble or women’s volleyball titles. Just football - well we do care about a little about men’s basketball too, in season. We talk about football year ‘round. No apologies.

But it’s not just us Deep South Neanderthal Though they pretend otherwise, the rest of the country doesn’t really care about the other stuff either - just check attendance figures. So yeah, we’re macho.

If you knew how foolish you sound and how you are really perceived you would be more quiet. Your buddies from OU have almost double the football titles you do, second most in the conference, and they don’t strut about like banty roosters. You should take lessons from your Sooner superiors. Even your A&M brothers, who won a national championship in football long before you, conduct themselves with far more intelligence and decorum.

Again, we just don’t care about your parcheesi titles or your money - just football and a little men’s basketball. And what you do, not what you’re gonna do. You’ve done a little eons ago, congrat, but nothing in your brief time here and your track record is not good. I don’t know of anyone who’s wasted more talent and resources over the decades than you.
