Was last year’s Ole Miss team the first elite team from Mississippi after desegregation?

Ole Miss has had 3 or 4 good teams after desegregation. State has had one good team (2014), but I think last year’s Ole Miss team was the first elite team after desegregation.

I mean they lost 3 games. They weren’t that awesome. Georgia Tech humiliated them.

State was 9-2 in 1976 & 1980.
1980 team was elite, featuring a number of players that went on to NFL success. That team also ended Bama’s 28 game overall win streak and 26 SEC win streak.
State in 1999 was 10-2. Two close losses to Bama & Arky. Beat Clemson in the Peach Bowl.
I would have to say those teams above were elite.
