They then had to settle for a guy who couldn't win at Florida

Guess he wasn't up for the challenge. Pussy. Not really concerned anymore. We'll be alright.

Sounds pretty pathetic on Herman's part, IMO.

If one game scared him away, he's not our guy. You can say we settled or whatever, but that's not the type of attitude South Carolina needs if they want to be successful moving forward. We have a guy who's motivated to win, and has taken steps to recruit and put a decent staff together. Hopefully it translates to wins.

What's up with the Georgia fans posting old shite today? At least this is slightly more recent than the Peyton crap.

If that's the reason he didn't take the job why would anybody want him? Sounds like a pussy.

I agree. A guy not willing to put in what's expected at a program raises red flags.

Hey, don't sleep on the Citadel and the brand of ball they play in South Carolina.

They were Southern co-champs and took out Coastal Carolina in the FCS playoffs before succumbing to a gritty Charleston Southern.

Herman probably felt the pecking order to state supremacy was shorter in Texas than SC.

I reported that in our coaching search thread the day after it happened ... it's Germans.

Things worked out for the best IMHO.

We didn't want him knowing that scared him off. He's a pussy.

Should be interesting to see what that fricktard Jesus Queertana says now that everything I reported at the time has proved to be correct ... not that it really matters in all honesty. But what a prick JQ was stalking us in our forum back then.

Didn't read the article but I really doubt this is true. No way does one game completely change a coach's opinion about a program.

Carolina got the guy they need. I think Boom will be a lifer there. Hermann would bolt to Texas or aTm as soon as he could

We'll see about Herman. He had a great year at Houston and there's no doubt about it. But it was just one year, those kind of spur the moment hires are dangerous (see Darrin Horn)

Also, there seems to be the idea floating around that he is waiting for the Texas job to open up. I have no idea if there is any truth to that or it's just BS but it sounds right so people accept it, but if it is the case that wouldn't be good for us either. If Herman had come here, and then Strong was fired in 1-3 years, and Herman jumped ship that really would put our program back even further.

If Herman has another 10+ win season, he will be in the running for any top 10 program HC
I would rather try and extinguish a dumpster fire with Texas/TAMU/LSU/Auburn resources than South Carolina

So he sits on his hands making $3mil and get an even better opportunity

Exactly ... IF he is still a hot commodity when the time comes. No guarantees that he will be. He probably thought, and this is what I was told, that he wouldn't be when the time came IF he took the Carolina job after the loss to the Citadel because he wouldn't have time to get the rebuild done by the time with the Texas or the A&M job opened-up ... which I guess he figured would be happening within the next year or two. And who knows, he may be right.

Honestly, it was a smart move on his part and honestly, we ended-up with the right guy.

Herman could have never pulled off assembling this staff Boom put together and Herman could have never pulled-off putting this recruiting class together.

BTW, FWIW, SCAR finished 26th, Houston finished 40th. SCAR closed strong with 4 of 5 key targets on signing day. Houston lost 4 key commits within four days of, and on, signing day, and picked up no one to replace them. They fell 15 spots on signing day under Herman coming off the best season in Houston history.

Sounds totally unbelievable.

More like SC folk releasing it so it doesn't look like they struck out on four guys before hiring BoomBoom
