pretty much every team in the entire sec would have gone undefeated against the schedule ucf played. It's just the truth

Why should Florida play them?

Let's look at the obvious:

If Florida goes undefeated, they are in the Playoffs.
If UCF goes undefeated, the are in the Fiesta, or Peach, or somewhere else.

This is because of the schedules. UCF's SoS is a joke, and quite frankly would hurt Florida.

Your opponents opponents matter in the overall formula. UCF simply doesn't bring anything to the table

Life is unfair. Business is unfair. Some guys are tall, some short. Some born rich some poor. Some schools are the University of Florida in the SEC and some directional. The SEC schools must have x number of home dates for recruiting and budget purposes. The UF AD would be justifiably fired if he doesn't fill those. That's why they pay schools guarantees to play. The UF made UCF one hell of an offer to play one @ Orlando. UCF is only interested in talking big, talking poitics, not a series as most anyone in their position would have leaped at the generous offer by UF. Fuk UCF, they talked up a fight now they shy away from it. Afraid.

They’re trying to get a game. Or be a martyr.

Or are they?

Beggars can’t be choosers.

We here at UCF will build a statue for Danny White one day and we give him a standing ovation for curling while the other ADs play shuffleboard. He’s a hero here and if anyone outside Orlando doesn’t like it too damn bad. We will continue to be defiant under this monopoly disguised as FBS football. Boise can also suck it. They’re a bunch of lap dogs and their compliant camper success got them zilch.

Because bullying your way into someone playing you has worked out so well so far.

Your AD’s incessant crying will do nothing but make P5 teams walk away from you. Largely because they’re holding all the cards.

BS. UCF needs to position themselves for an ACC expansion shot @ some point, they aren't getting in the SEC. They are still a commuter school with a chicken shite fan base. UAB like. A couple or three years ago they were giving away tickets in the local grocery stores.

It’s not broken. A UCF team with a schedule where roughly half of the teams didn’t even make .500 shouldn’t sniff a playoff.

Agreed.

Strength of schedule matters.

If UCF made the playoff with their schedule (1 P5 opponent), then the system would really be broken.

That statue will be of a screaming baby in a diaper having a tantrum on the floor.

Let UCF rot. They should schedule some BDF teams, because they are about the same level

UCFs AD sounds like a spoiled brat . If they want to have a chance to make a playoff game then they need to do what ever it takes to get 4 good P5 teams on their schedule.

Because UF loses money going to UCF and has zero to gain from playing them. Win you’re expected to lose you get laughed at. Basically a lose lose situation not worth it.

would lose a few million dollars by playing at ucf. ucf has to give some type of compensation. they aren't losing anything

You are missing the beauty of the 2 for 1 deal: UF would not have to pay UCF anything to play in Gainesville. So UF would get 2 guaranteed sellouts, and would not have to shell out the $2 or 3 million+ UCF would normally expect as a guaranteed payment for the 2 games. Then UF plays the one away game and gets a cut of its ticket sales or something small like that, but UCF has passed up two apperance fees for the right to host an SEC team at home.

I'm not saying its the best financial deal UF can make, but it's not a losing deal for UF.

Also, I doubt that UF is losing much money by splitting the gate at the WLOCP every year instead of hosting UGA every other year. The City of Gainesville misses out, but not the University. And any financial loss by the University is worth it for alumni relations.

Agreed. UF doesn’t even owe them a return trip.

If UCF wanted to be taken seriously, they schedule anybody who will play them and they beat them. Win a few of those and then you can start asking for 1&1’s.

Cool, we'll all keep doing what we are doing too.

Guess everyone is happy then.

Why would teams like Bama or OSU schedule UCF for a home and home? That's a ludicrous proposition.

You want respect, do like Bobby Bowden did. FSU was nothing before he got there

In 1981, he played road games @OSU, @ND, @LSU @Pitt and @Nebraska in a row. That is how you do it if you want to prove it

UCF could do something similar and play at least 3 ACC/SEC teams on the road annually

You know, I can sympathize a bit with the difficulty in scheduling the sort of major opponents that would help them rise in terms of competing against Power 5 opponents for a playoff spot. I can even sympathize with them on not wanting an unbalanced arrangement out of the deal. But the system is what it is. The teams in the P5 are have almost universally spent more than a century taking on other top teams, for better or for worse. They weren't magicked into their current position. Until UCF accepts that, and learns that rising up takes patience, they'll never get the respect they want.

So, yeah, take unbalanced arrangements. Beat those teams down twice at their place and once at yours. Keep taking on mid-tier P5 programs, get eyeballs on TV and convince top-tier P5 programs that, as an opponent, you are a good investment in terms of branding. Don't wait your turn, but do have the patience to understand that these things don't happen overnight. You're not even at the level Boise State was under Petersen, yet. Stop begging for unwarranted respect.
