UCF is the only undefeated team and they beat a team that beat BOTH participants in the Championship game.
I don't see why they shouldn't claim it.

BYU was crowned champs in 1984 after beating 6-6 Michigan in the Holiday Bowl. I would totally claim it if I were UCF.

A little bit. I mean, Boise or Utah went undefeated a few times and never tried to claim a championship.
In a perfect world UCF would be in the playoff and one day they likely will be.

The transitive thing is always meaningless.
I mean Alabama lost to Auburn but beat two teams that beat Auburn, hell if they beat UGA they will have beaten 3 teams that beat Auburn.

I couldn't agree more. The reason I posted it is because I believe this will get us closer to either and 8 team playoff or a new division that is made up of only power 5 schools, with the playoff being expanded as the most likely scenario.
