I only read a few posts on the first page and skipped to the last few but you guys certainly deserve to be very proud of your team. I know Kiffin signed an extension at FAU and you may already have hired another guy, but he would be awesome at UCF.

These people saying UCF should've been in the final four are making fools of themselves. All of the top 10 would likely go undeafeted vs UCFs scedule.

If a G5 team wants a chance to make the CFP final 4 they should schedule 3 games against good (typically ranked) P5 teams. Otherwise go sit down at the kids table and shut up.

UFC wouldn’t have a chance with a SEC schedule

I was really hoping that we’d pull Kiffin and Kendal Briles from FAU but I don’t think Danny White wants guys with that kind of baggage as the face of the program. Randy Shannon as DC was our best hire by far, our defense in the Peach looked like a completely different team than what we watched all season.

I can't be the only one entertained by Bamatards using the transitive property (we play in the SEC, it's better than the AAC, so we're better than you) to justify being in the playoffs; while at the same time bashing UCF for a transitive property national championship.

How else but transitive property does a 1-loss team that didn't even play for its own conference championship get into the national championship playoffs over an undefeated conference champion?

Bamatards are fun.

Well they did beat the team that Bama couldn’t, so there’s that.

Well with that logic-shouldn't the Seattle Seahawks declare themselves the Champions of 2016 since they beat both of the teams that played in the Superbowl-Atlanta and New England?

Lol. Well that's cute. They try so hard in the weaker conferences to be like the big boys.

Yeah if only they could be Florida at 4-7.

Or maybe you can just claim you're in the playoffs and make it so.

Yeah, you'd think that scheduling Louisville on a neutral field at least would be better than scheduling a game against Troy St. at home.

You'd think. But I guess not.***

Heck, why go to all that trouble. No matter if my team loses or wins Mon night, we can just declare ourselves champions of the entire world and plan a parade.

I keep seeing this by I don't see any SEC schools out there scheduling the Service Academy's, and I really wish they would I would love to see it happen.

If the point is about playing that style of team...

Current Navy HC: Ken Niumatalolo

Coaching Tree: Paul Johnson...

Niumatalolo followed Johnson from Hawaii to Navy and became the heir apparent when he left to take his god forsaken HS offense to Atlanta and join the Nerds.

Georgia plays Tech every year... I seem to recall Tennessee fans crying up a storm and apologizing for any negative remarks that they'd made in the past after seeing how much fun that was this season.

If it's about playing service academy schools, it's the same problem as signing up to play any higher quality Mid Major G5 school... it is viewed as a no-value win if you win, and it's a colossal shitstain if you lose... see: Boise or Utah in years past... The dumb part is, an SEC school would be given more credit for scheduling Maryland or Purdue than they would for playing a school like UCF this year or one of the Service Academies... even though the latter would probably be a more viable opponent.

Notre Dame plays them since they don't have the same conference affiliation requirements that most schools do.

UCF postponed a scheduled game against Texas and outright refused to reschedule GT yet now all of a sudden they think they belong with the big boys.

Uh we’ve been trying to get into a major conference for well over a decade, so we’d love that. Not to mention that it gets damn hard to schedule OOC games against P5 teams when your team is this good.

Your team went 0-12 just two years ago. Schedules for most teams are not cobbled together at the last minute. The "when you're this good" argument doesn't fly for why you have what you have this year... you have that because your team was shite 2 years ago and your AD was trying to ensure that you could have a shot to be bowl eligible at minimum.

quote:

UF, FSU, and Miami do everything in their power to keep us out of their conferences, hell USF did their best to keep us out of the Big East. All UCF wanted was a chance to prove on the field that we are one of the best teams in the nation this year and isn’t that what a playoff system is supposed to be about?

Right, wrong, or indifferent, the ACC would be dumb to include you in their conference. I don't thing FSU or Miami have much to do with it. You don't add anything from a market standpoint that they don't already have. The SEC would not be substantively improved in any way either, given that UF dominates the central part of that state in terms of eyes on TV. I'm sure they *don't* want you in, but doubt they have to do much convincing, at least thus far. If the SEC starts giving serious consideration to trying to get to 16 teams for any reason, due to what the ACC did with the long term grant of rights stuff, you might have a chance there as I can't imagine the SEC wants to expand their footprint farther west, and the NC/VA schools that we might want are likely never going to leave the ACC.

I lived in Orlando for a while, have a ton of UCF grads who are friends. All of them have been much more rational than what you've put in this thread so far. I'd have been a little more sympathetic to the UCF cause this year if you'd at least been able to play the Ga Tech game. That would at least have given us another P5 barometer during the regular season. If you want to blame anyone, blame the hurricane there, or your AD's inability to find a way to get the game played still. Regardless of whether they weren't a great P5 school, I think that would at least have helped to give a little legitimacy to what you did....

Will that keep you warm at night when you wake up 20 years from now and you're still a directional school in a mid-major? You're perpetually either a dumping ground for has-been coaches, or a stepping stone for coaches that want to get to a Power 5 school. USF beat us once too. They're back to being in a middy conference. So by all means, reinforce everything I'm saying here by trumpeting how your biggest, program-defining win was over a 10-4 team that can't win top 15 games away from home.
