1980 was a long time ago.

Most that remember it are in their late 40s and older.

As long as Saban is at Alabama, he will not win a title at UGa

Mark Richt 2.0 will never win a national championship at UGA.

True, no idea on a time frame. I don't think it's out of line to think he'll be here ~10 more years or longer, and I certainly don't see any reason thus far why he can't end up with 1 over the next decade.

I thought he would. Then I saw my tigers blow them off the field with equal talent and realized that Kirby learned how to recruit like Saban, but never learned how to coach like him.

I believe Georgia will win one sooner rather than later, maybe even this year. They have a very easy schedule and they have an upperclassman for quarterback. Unless they get caught for cheating. The best thing that could possibly happen for all of college football to remain a delightful place is that they win a title, get investigated and busted, have to vacate that title, and forever be humiliated.

Hold on a second. You're telling me a guy going into his 4th year ever as a head coach in his career isn't on the same level as a guy going into his 26th season as a head coach that also happens to be the best cfb coach of all time? I'm shocked!

lol learned all that from one game? If so LSU should hire Troy’s coach. Smoked LSU with lesser talent.

Obviously wouldnt expect him to be at that level yet, but there were some boneheaded mistakes.

With Georgia's schedule, his talent wins most of the games.

They met a west team, got punched in the mouth, and he just did not understand how to respond.

I'm sure that taught him alot though. Had he kept running the ball , UGA may have caught up.

They went 11-1 in the regular season with the youngest team in the conference.

Yeah, what a shitty coach.

Or just a really shitty easy schedule in a weak division.

of course, just like with any head coach doing things for the first time. Only kirby is doing it at UGA instead of toledo or michigan state. Saban didn't win 10 games until his 8th season coaching, year 2 at LSU. I'm not comparing smart to saban, just saying that it's ridiculous to try to downplay smart as a HC simply because he hasn't accomplished what saban has done in his current stint with alabama.

you can say the same for alabama. Or clemson. Or most teams that are really good. Good thing recruiting is all part of the gig, and he is elite at it.

yep, we were terrible that day and LSU was great. So what? LSU lost to a UF team we beat by 3 TDs. LSU didn't score a point on a bama team we led wiht a few minutes left. Football is a funny game, things happen.

yes, good point. All losses are a learning experience (look at AU 2017 both games as a prime example). Chaney for some reason completely abandoned the run against LSU. I'm sure kirby learned from that and moved on.
