I'll bite. These stats are mostly padded against smaller teams/cupcakes.
We played a lot of schemes this year that only had 1 or 2 lineman. In place of where you would normally have a big ole lineman, Alabama was lining up speedy linebackers.
When we played lower cupcakes and teams that didn't have big beefy lines, this was a feast for our defense. They linebackers weren't outsized much, and had more than enough speed to make up for it. So we shut teams down.
However, when it came to teams that had better offensive lines, like LSU, Auburn and Tennessee, this shite fricking sucked. The linebackers were undersized and teams were able to run all over us. We couldn't win the line of scrimmage against better teams.
So if you want those padded stats in exchange for being undersized when it actually matters, feel free to take Golding off our hands.
