Why is that? The SEC schools participated in the same sports that Texas finished 1st or 2nd in the country.

So technically Texas should be able to compete in any of the conferences, no?

Big 3 and its undeniable.

Btw, way the hell to go Kentucky. They do have a very well rounded AD now, and one of the best women's track programs with the next American megastar Olympic sprinter, plus the reigning megastar female American Olympic sprinter is a recent alum.

It's quite amazing how much Stoops has gained momentum for their entire AD, especially as the bball program seemingly is falling down a notch.

Again... how so?

If we're talking about totality of sports, wouldn't Texas have had to face SEC competition along the way if they finished 1st or 2nd in the country in 10 of them? Did all 14 SEC teams boycott golf, tennis, track & field, softball, baseball, etc.?

I'm genuinely curious as to how 1st or 2nd in the nation doesn't "cut it" in the SEC

Once or twice a year is not the same as every week…

Ok...? So shouldn't those SEC teams be tougher in the postseason since it's "every week" with those sports?

How come some of them couldn't beat one of those 10 Texas teams before they reached the finals in their respective sports?

You have a sad life if you squander it watching sports like college tennis and college swimming.

This is a football board. I’m sorry your life is so dull and ponderous that the “Director’s Club” offers you even some modicum of comfort after losing to KANSAS last year.

You specifically said you got no points for football, hence me saying you'd be better off in the Pac 12. What the frick was so hard to grasp?

OU and Texas both have very strong athletic programs which is why we want them in the SEC. Very observant of you to notice.

Best of luck in the Big 12.

Oklahoma hasn't won a title since the Clinton administration.

So no.

Football - edge OU
Baseball - I'll be nice and give you a push right now, historically not close - UT
Softball - edge OU - UT runner up
M Hoops - UT at the moment, and you don't have a superior history with a title
W Hoops - UT at the moment ( back to back E8 ), we have a title you do not
W Tennis - we just beat you for the natty and went back to back
M Tennis - we just won a natty 3-4 years ago - UT
M Golf - we just won the natty - UT
W Golf - honestly I don't know at this point
Volleyball - no contest - UT
Rowing natty - UT
M and W T/F - we won an indoor natty this year and finished 2nd in W indoor and M & W outdoor - UT

You have all of those gymnastics natties which we don't compete in - we have our 15 natties in swimming/diving
Just cancel those out

Half the people on this board could not care less about half of those - just showing how ignorant your take is.

Oklahoma is going to struggle in the SEC. Terrible move for them.

Ya know, I hate OU as much as the next guy, but what rational basis is there for such an opinion?

OU and Texas both bring strong overall departments to the conference. As of late Texas has been topping the charts. Florida is one of only 2 schools to have finished in the top 10 every year for 27 years of the directors cup's existence. Texas has finished in the top 10 in 21 of 27 years. I will give props to Texas for knocking Stanford off the top of the podium.

20 of those years Florida has been top 5. Gator's also have less teams to earn points with.

Florida needs to get back on top of the All SEC Sports trophy. Back in the day that thing never left Gainesville.

I would say it is probably FL or Arkansas if they ever get their football situation straightened out
