You don’t have to. We will return seven of our top eight and one that will be drafted in the first round next year.

1. You know you normally only play 5 guys at a time, right?

Plus LSU gets the Tech transfer Fehoko. I believe this Dline will be top 3 in the SEC.

I guess I just see it as being very good as opposed to game changing like Clemson or Auburn had at times this year.

Alabama isn't necessarily built to have DLs quite like that. The LBs are the key to the Alabama defense. That being said, the 2015-2016 DL was absolutely nasty. The 2018 version will be very good, just not as experienced.

Returning all of a unit that isn't that great to begin with isn't going to make them elite.

Well it wasn’t bad my man. 5th in total offense(actually second in yards per game but only played 12 games), second in passing and had a 1000 yard rusher. If you’re going to do list do research. And if you’re going to do lists without doing research then accept info without being defensive.

LSU has a ridiculous amount of talent on the defensive line. 5 stars at almost every position on the defensive line/rushing OLB

Not any more so than 2-3 other lines in the SEC.

ETA: only one composite 5 Star in the front 7 I can think of. Good amount of top 50 to top 75 overall type talents though. Some guys were 5 stars on individual services but not composite

Name (composite rank)
DE: Lawrence (23) - Logan (156)
NT: Alexander (68) - Shelvin (54)
DE: Fehoko (51) - Farrell (300+)

OLB Chaisson (37)
MLB White (135)
MLB Taylor (242) - Phillips (61)
OLB Divinity (64)

^ Should be able to play with anyone according to these rankings, even though a few SEC schools probably have a little more star power. Recruiting services aren’t perfect and in reality this could end up between a top 2 and top 5 SEC front 7 talent wise.

The secondary is where we are truly in the elite class according to recruiting services. Still very good in the front 7

I agree

Don’t know where they rate, but UGA (if Trent and Led return) will be very good on the DL. Clark and Marshall had good postseasons.

I agree. We would finish top 3. But I don't think it is far fetched to think that we go under the radar preseason.

"wasn't bad" does not mean Top 3. No one in the country considers that line to be top tier except you and a few other Ole Miss fans. Going into the season, at least 7 other lines were considered better, in the SEC. That didn't change during the season.

Ole Miss's schedule was 64th in the nation and those stats you allude to are not demosntrative for a great OLine.

If you can't run the ball, you won't win and running is the true marker for strong offensive lines.

Ole Miss was ranked 103rd in rushing offense with 134 yards per game. There were 8 SEC teams that finished higher including Miss St 11th, Bama 13th, AU 26th, UGA 9th, LSU 28th.

UGA, AU, BAMA all had strength of schedule in the Top 10. Miss St 18th. LSU 32nd.

That's not being defensive. That's being objective.

On the DL: Bama just needs to find a replacement for Daron Payne. Probably not gonna find a guy as good as him next year, but the surrounding talent is very strong. Guys like Raekwon Davis and Quinnen Williams really came on later in the season. LaBryan Ray is a big time talent who got hurt after they pulled his redshirt midway through the season. So, Bama looks to return to a very deep DL like they had a couple years ago. But they will lose just about everybody in the secondary.

On the OL, there should be a lot of competition in camp and some position shuffling too. Lots of returning starters and top recruits in that group. Lots of people expect LT Jonah Williams to move to center.

First of all, I sad ours is as good as anyone, not better. And I’m right. Overall rushing stats and the value you place on them are irrelevant. The lines don’t call the plays, they just block. We also had a guy top three in rushing and rushing yards per carry in SEC games. You can’t tell me that the second best offense in the league, one that utilized two different quarterbacks and returns seven of its eight linemen(including a certain first rounder) isn’t. You simply could have said they might be. But you chose to posit that they weren’t good, which is an ignorant take. It may be true that only OM fans, and Phil Steele, consider our line elite but the facts say you should too. I’m just trying to get you up to speed.

We are very excited about our Oline next year. Isaiah Wilson and Netori Johnson were redshirted and we think they will make an impact next year and we have Cade Mays coming in to compete, along with Salyer and Hill.
