Just recruiting grounds alone, I think UGA is 1 or 1a. They have no competition in the state.

Fla and Fla. St. should be high due to recruiting as well but FSU doesn't seem to be all in at this time.

Oregon is out of place on that list, imo.

I believe you can add Fla St to that list.
Texas A&M has never lived up to potential.
Auburn is a hot mess at the present time.
That won't change just because Freeze is there.

They have a lot of competition for recruits in the state. Maybe not from other schools within GA but there are a bunch of major programs within 3 hours of ATL metro. That said, it's the most fertile metro area in the country for football players, so there's more than enough to go around.

This is a boring thread, where it would get interesting is rank the fifteen through thirty jobs

I still have a hard time accepting USC as a top tier job.

That campus is in the worst part of town in that cesspool of a city. The homeless population is out of control. There are tent cities everywhere.

Female students are instructed not to leave the campus grounds at night, due to safety concerns. And the Coliseum is a dump.

You have a decent list, just in the wrong order.

LSU is barely top 10
ND is no worse than 6th

Yet, somehow Notre Dame's coach didn't agree

I would honestly put Georgia and LSU as 1A and 1B with Bama and OSU as #3&4 respectfully.

LSU and UGA have 2 of the hottest recruiting bases in all of college football. They also have basically zero in state competition at this level of football (GT doesn't count) for recruits. Their entire state is also ran on colleges football so these kids grow up fans of the good guys. Recruit home and cap it off internationally and you end up with a top 5 class every year basically guaranteed. It's two very unique schools that both of which in 2022 have 110% football buy in from their athletic directors, school presidents and state governments. Pre Saban, LSU football was continually being held back by its own administration and state government. You have a good coach at either program and you pump out near yearly playoff teams.

Brian Kelly from an individual who is a CFL GM went to his house for dinner said that he couldn't get the players at Notre Dame and took the LSU job knowing that he finally can. He simply couldn't win at title at Notre Dame because he couldn't get the players.

I would have to include Arkansas in there...

I know you laugh... But where else can you win only 5-6 games.. .as long as you ruin Ole Miss season, and make millions of bucks for mediocre results. Gotta be in the top 15 brah!

What’s the defining qualifications for “top jobs in CFB”? Usually, the level of pay defines “top jobs” and you’ve got Stoops with a massive contract at UK. Who wants to go to Bama and follow Saban for same or a little more money only to be certainly fired in 3 years when you lose 2 games in consecutive seasons and don’t win a Natty?

Yea this is the biggest problem. Though many things can mean "top job", for most it means reaching the pinnacle of your profession. In that sense, the metric is winning a title. There are about 15-20 teams with real chances of winning a title during a given coach's tenure. Those are the top jobs.
Yep, you're going to have to look at pressure, opportunity, money, and then things like location and maybe prestige/history.

LSU and Ohio State- LSU has won titles with Saban, Miles and Orgeron. Pretty clear that Kelly looked at that list, and said "I can match up with Saban, and easily beat the other two, so I should be able to win there". Ohio State has gone on a roll with Tressel, Urban, and now Day, so same situation.
Georgia seems to be moving into that group. Florida has apparently fallen out of it.

Alabama- you think it's a great job, but you BETTER have your shite together. Bama fans think Dabo will go home, but he's a legend at Clemson. He'd be on the hot seat in Tuscaloosa for missing the playoffs 2 years in a row.

Texas, the potential might be there, but nobody has been able to tap it before the boosters blow up the situation.

Notre Dame, sadly for them, I think the ceiling is getting to the playoffs, but never winning. I think Kelly is proof of that.

Hard to say what Clemson is; did Dabo unlock it, or is he a special case? Does that job decline now that Tennessee is elevating (taking more players from the region), and Fla State and Miami revive?

it would be but rumor has it your guys boosters get way too involved with coaching
Yep, Auburn on Steroids. This Georgia fan has no concern about them right now. Maybe in the future, but I ain't skeerd.

Imagine having your head so far up Aubie's arse, you can taste lemonade, when he farts?

Did y'all just give a coach a raise for winning fewer games? I think y'all hustlin' backwards..

Auburn is better than Tennessee. Don't let one year cloud your judgement

That's why you just replaced the ex-Boise State head coach that *NOBODY* wanted two years ago with a recycled 8-4/9-3 SEC coaching caliber carnival tent creepy country faux-preacher *NOBODY* wanted. AU the last two years makes Tennessee 2017-2020 look like a well oiled machine in comparison. Y'all are where we were for 10/15 years now: the Dark Ages.

In the list, LSU, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma should be 2 with the others dropping a tier.
