He was bad this year. And he’s somehow tricked a portion of our fanbase into believing we don’t have a talented roster. Gotta think he’s coaching for his job next year with Newell coming in

Funny - he did the exact same thing at UF when he sold the fanbase on getting Tre Mann, Scottie Lewis, Omar Payne, and Kerry Blackshear in 2020.

2020 would’ve been a tournament team, 2021 was an all time choke in the Sweet 16, and both times the team severely underperformed and the offense looked like garbage.

But how can you say without a doubt Golden is better when White started his career even better?

That’s not a very good indicator because, well, UGA.

Mike White never got past the SEC Tournament Semi-Finals. Todd Golden did it in his 2nd Year in an SEC that is considerably better than it ever has been.

Didn’t Florida lose to Oral Roberts in the second round in 2021. A choke for sure.

Is anyone else getting 2006 vibes from these Gators?

No but he's done a damn good job. Those UF teams under Donovan were truly dominant.

Imagine thinking getting to the semifinals of a conference tournament is a greater accomplishment than reaching the Elite 8

Oral Roberts was very good that year, knocked off the 2 seed buckeyes, then UF Only lost by 2 in the sweet 16 to ARK

It’s revisionist history to call Mike White a “bad coach”. He had some successes and never really had a disastrous season.

He’s probably somewhere in the middle but doesn’t really have much upside. He had some early success with Billy’s holdover players, but over time he had trouble maintaining his own roster and developing players. He seemingly never had enough depth in the front court every year, and his guards were just not improving from year to year.

What I’ll say is that in year 2, Golden has already shown that he can build a roster (the entire team is basically one he built in one year with transfers and freshmen) and his offensive system is vastly superior to White’s.

The change in strategy today against A&M was all coaching. Golden is a damn good coach

Maybe it was a Texas A&M thing that they just can't get it done just like in football.

Florida led Oral Roberts by 12 with 7 minutes to go. It was definitely an all time choke lol

He's got that very unlikeable smarminess about him that would be perfect coaching Duke.
