Per @RossDellenger

NEWS with @ByPatForde: Power-5 leaders are exploring staging their own fall championships if Board of Governors cancel/postpone them, sources tell @SInow.

The beginning of a schism between the P5 & NCAA.

“If I were (Mark) Emmert, I’d be really worried.”

Sports Illustrated: LINK

Matt Wyatt makes a great point:

A split is necessary. Outside of the paycheck, it’s also best for G5. Those players deserve their own legit championship to play for. As is, Southern Miss and Alabama chase the same title. Laughable.

It would be quick and easy to disband the NCAA and form another organization. It should happen quickly. The NCAA is as corrupt as congress.

So basically the football model but for all sports?

So we’d have

Power 5
Group of 5
FCS
Division II
Division III

Alabama recruiting gonna take a huge hit if Saban’s good buddy Emmert isn’t there to turn the blind eye anymore, and P5 teams leave the NCAA.

At some point, there is no line between College and professional football. I feel like I am the only one seeing this.

Why? You think a new governing body, with the same issues of having no real power to get people to talk is gonna be more disciplined than the NCAA? The cheating would be open game. Only thing to stop it is the feds/IRS and even they cant get everyone, nor interested in doing so

The basketball tournament would be diminished. A winner from outside the highest football playing conferences is not uncommon.

What happens to the low-revenue P5 AD's? There really aren't any in the SEC, but I'd be worried if I were someone like Indiana or Texas Tech

Is $127,000,000 and $96,000,000 low revenue though? Plus those numbers are only going to go up probably.

The upper one-third of G5 is just as good as Vandy or Wake and deserve to move up to P5

For example Texas won't allow SMU or Houston in the Big12 so they can keep more of the TV Revenues while giving themselves a huge Recruiting advantage in both of those Talent rich Metro Areas

The P5 needs to not allow certain conferences or Schools (Texas) to act as a "Cartel" and suppress level playing field competition from Colleges with the resources to legitimately compete

Exactly. Any vested BIG school is doing just fine...even Indiana.

That 2nd number for Texas Tech is a bit of a surprise. They're doing better than I thought.

Revenue is gonna go up once the streaming services get in the mix for CFB.Current contracts will be chump change.

That point has already occurred, the lines are blurry as hell ever since the Top 8 P5 HCs make between $6 million & $9 million per year ----some make more than NFL HCs

So if it's OK for the top end College guys to make more than NFL HCs, then it should be OK for the Players to get bigger stipends and get their fair piece of the Pie

Unless of course you have an agenda
