This is why Deboer likely will not be around for long, even if he does a really good job..

He doesn't have to be Nick Saban. All he has to be is Urban Meyer. And he's a huge upgrade over the last three years of 21-3 in the conference and two SEC championships.

yea i think coaching was the obvious problem at bama. their poor players had to overcome so much with Saban at the helm

In less than a week he's gone from GOAT to keeping the program from reaching its ceiling.

I've said that from the get go. He may not get the opportunity to see what he can accomplish there t=due to the fans and boosters.

So Saban is a good coach? There narrative used to be that Saban was an average game day coach but had more talent than everyone. Now I’m seeing that Alabama will be an average team without him.

They spent all year telling this was Saban's best coaching job ever with a flawed team but now that Saban's gone they'll be better coached.

Guy wins 6 natty's in 17 years and they think they'll be better coached now that he's left.

Yep!! AU logic. Saban was the coach that did less with more, so Bama goes the other direction and hires a coach that supposedly does more with less. I guess we’ll see how that works out for them!

Of all the opinions expressed on TD... That's the one you call out?

Especially after "the decline is real" has been typed so many times... Those letters have disappeared from many key boards. And after watching Golding and BoB ... Can you blame the guy.

The thread wasn’t specific as to faulting Saban, as you seem to infer. OP could be faulting OC Rees for poor game plans for at least three games, and possibly several others that ended up being closer wins than they should’ve been.

But you all just go on wish-casting your feels on all things Bama. I’m bookmarking all of these threads for…future reference.

He obviously meant the assistant coaches….as great as Saban is….the BOB, Golding hires, etc were some head scratchers….

The word “obsessed” may be overused on this board but the past 6 days have been incredible.

A new Bama thread is started every six minutes or less.

Multiple posters scanning through our board regularly in hopes of bringing material back to tRant

A list of transfers broken down by date that must have taken an hour to research.

I could go on and on.

The absolute fear by this board that Alabama is going to face 0 drop off with this transition is very well felt and in a weird way, appreciated.

It is and will forever be great to be the king of college football.

Suck our elephant dicks, bitches.

You are half right. Which puts you way ahead of your usual half-wit nonsense.

Kalen DeBoer doesn't have to be as good as Nick Saban. He doesn't have to be better than Paul "Bear" Bryant. He just has to be better than Josh Heupel, Lane Kiffin, Brian Kelly, Kirby Smart, Steve Sarkisian, and that ilk.

Gets a lot easier from there.

GOAT just retired. Hard to believe that people would take notice on a board dedicated to the conference he coached in.

Just crazy man, crazy.

Have you looked at the amount of coaches who have won two titles all-time? Really easy. Really, really easy.
