This is what a 16-team playoff would have looked like this past year...

Look at those match-ups, will you? It's hard to believe some of you want to see this BS.

I see 5 good games in the round of 16 and three games I would have loved to have seen in the round of 8 (UGA/Bama rematch, no thanks; Cincy/Bama no thanks).

At no point in the history of the universe ever, has a team ranked 16th in the country been good enough to be in contention for a national championship.

It makes zero sense, and the only people who want to watch it are the fans of perennial bottom feeders and would-be Cinderellas.

Especially at the end of a season.

No one with a pound of brain in their skull wants a 16 team playoff. Why worry about what idiots think? Everyone wants an 8 team playoff. I’d honestly prefer a 5 or 6 team playoff. 5 team playoff would have the 4 and 5 seed playing the first game, winner plays the 1 seed the following week.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. The 16th ranked team is typically sitting with about 3 losses and is commonly 3rd or worse in their own division (if SEC). Other examples would be teams like Coastal Carolina, South Florida, etc.

I would argue that eight is still too many. How many compelling semi-final games have there been since the inception of the CFP?

2015 Sugar Bowl
Ohio State - 42
Alabama - 35

2018 Rose Bowl
Georgia - 54
Oklahoma - 48

2019 Fiesta Bowl
Clemson - 29
Ohio State - 23

And that's it. The rest have been decided by 10 points or more.

So all the conference champs have tk play week one.

Alabama had to play the same week that Florida did.

We are going to have to quit worrying about the feelings of the Go5 and break up the big12 and move to 4 sixteen team leagues or 8 eight team leagues and have an 8 team playoff. there is at least one juggernaut program in each league.

At large bids kind of ruin things just to save us from arguments.

Thats not really why you do it though, if that was solely the case you should be actively rooting for the return of the BCS

I think 16 teams is way too many, but they wouldn’t be giving MAC champions any kind of autobid or bias.

Coastal BYU and Cincy get in with 16 teams.

San Jose State and Ball State do not.

That's what I'm doing. The CFP has been nothing but a failure as far as competition and parity are concerned.

Let coastal, UCF, BYU, Boise, Memphis decide their own champion.

There are about 64 mid majors as well. That’s a good playoff.

But let’s get the p5 down to 64. There are currently 65 teams. Rutgers got to go.

It’s all about the $$$$. If you have more games with the Blue Bloods and Top contenders, you can bet that is more profitable.

UGA was a different (and much better) team at the end of the season vs. the beginning due to getting a good QB to play.

Not saying we were championship caliber, but just for the sake of argument.

All of you that are bashing 16 team playoffs really need to go watch and study some FCS tournaments. Has a 16 team won the thing? No. Has a 16 team knocked off a Number one team and that win help raise their program to be heights never seen? Yes.

If you want to talk about craziness it is wanting to give teams byes. If byes are given might as well not even award the extra spots.

It isn't all about if 16 can win it all, even though it would be a hell of awesome. In the long run, the money will be too much not expand. On top of bowl games aren't been exciting enough anymore to duck chores for anymore. Does anyone really care about bowl games anymore.
