This dose not follow the context of how SEC city was used by the OP.......I'd go easier on the "dense frick" if I were you.

The day the finest city in sec country is Atlanta is the day it's time to give up on the south.

For country music aficionados sure, not so much for urban teenagers that will be hundreds of miles from home.

The only cities I've ever been to where the overall music scene is better than Nashville are Nola and New York. There's plenty of rock, folk/bluegrass and a little jazz as well, not just country although there is also plenty of that. It's a cool city.

If he had stayed, he would have gone 4-8 last year. (We would have looked better, but Saban wouldn't have gone bowling with our roster/youth last year.) The only way he was staying was if he failed Penn State's background check.

If vandy loses the first game masons head will be on the chopping block along with the athletic directors.

I agree with the OP on this one. I completely disagree with the whole Atl being the best southern town bit by the other poster, by a mile...

I think in a lot of cases football fans don't understand how little money their school gets is actually related to football.

At Vanderbilt I'm guessing that athletic donations are less than 1/20th of the academic donations. I'm pretty sure those academic donations would take a hit if they kept a coach that covered up rapes.

It's not like he went to a different school that has a proud tradition of covering up rapes to protect the football team. Oh wait.

Atlanta sucks compared to Nashville in all aspects, not just as an SEC city, and I grew up in Atlanta

There's plenty to complain about when it comes to politics, but this is a stretch. People of all walks love football.

Well, I live in Nashville, go to all the games, have family there. There is actually an intellectual hostility to the football program or being perceived as caring too much. Also, the students are a bunch of dorks and/or from countries that don't watch football so that doesn't help.

This guy gets it. Franklin knew the talent was down at Vandy and was ready to leave. He then made some disparaging comments about Vandy and immediately started to poach their recruits. I hope he never wins another game. Hopefully, PSU will get matched up w/ an SEC team in a shitty bowl and I can finally root for Tenn to win a game.

Show us the cover up dipshit

The players were all kicked off the team and out of school before even being charged

even though franklin was taking vandy through their most successful period ever, still couldn't manage to fill their tiny stadium.

bullshite. I was there for an opening Thursday night game with South Carolina, and the place was packed, with South Caroina fans only making up the few thousand seats normally allotted to the visiting team. Not only that, the student section was full before game time. After having seen Alabama play there last in 2007, with the stadium maybe 70% crimson and a virtually empty student section at kickoff, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Vanderbilt's average paid attendance in 2012 was 37,860. In 2013 their average attendance was 35, 675. Vanderbilt stadium seats a mere 40,500 people. If they can't get to 100% capacity in a stadium that small in their most successful run in school history, what makes anyone believe they could find a good coach who wanted to stay there? Franklin showed just how desirable a job Vanderbilt is and their hire of Mason cemented it. Yes, maybe the Ad is partly to blame, but there is a culture there that academics will be valued to the detriment of athletics, and for the majority of Vanderbilt alums, that's completely fine with them. In fact, only Kentucky had a worse % sold in the SEC than Vanderbilt in Franklin;s last season there, and their stadium seats about 25k more people

Stanford seems to have done quite well despite rigorous admissions standards.
