The damage to the A&M program will be insurmountable. It is already in progress. The team has checked out. Portal can't open soon enough for many. Gonna be a really ugly exodus.

Well one of our best offensive players got benched for wearing arm sleeves last night and then felt fine tweeting about it so yeah, it looks like we are going to get wrecked by the portal if he sticks around.

Hilariously, there is no offset reduction in Jimbo's contract if some other program was stupid or desperate enough to hire his greasy arse.

quote:

Fisher’s contract was guaranteed, meaning A&M would have to pay his full salary through the term's end if it fired him. It marked the richest guaranteed contract in college sports history.
Fisher’s contract also included no duty to mitigate the buyout with future employment – many schools include mitigation clauses to defray financial damages – meaning he’ll pocket the full buyout he’s owed, if he’s fired.

That could maybe even be how we dump him if we (hopefully) have a clause that his new school picks up a chunk of the buyout once he starts coaching again. So if we can find another school that actually wants him maybe they offer him $5 million a year for 5 years which could knock down out obligation by $25 million.

Nope, you still owe him regardless of his new salary.

welp.

I'm not surprised we had somebody that fricking stupid writing that contract up.

Our last 4 coaches have all gotten undeserved extensions and 3 of the 4 were too expensive to fire when they should have been fired (Fran, Sumlin, and now Jimbo).

I just can't believe we did this shite again. I fricking knew there was something wrong w/him w/how FSU imploded and that the stupid arse deal was going to end up being a massive albatross and frick me I ended up being right about something I very much want to be wrong about.

If aTm were smart, and I don’t think they are, they would fire him the instant the LSU game clock hits 0.

They brag about all their money, so pay whatever it takes. They only have a couple of years until Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC and mud stomp their recruiting grounds.

Unfortunately for Texas A(verage) & M(ediocre), I don’t think they have ever met smart.

Aggy will renegotiate a buy out to cut ties with Jimbo by offering $5 million year for the next 20 years. Aggy doing aggy things.

Running the risk of him beating LSU. Probably best to fire him now and have the team rally around a new coach.

So anm goes and buys some little law school in Ft Worth or somewhere so aggies could brag to Texas about having a law school. Then anm is actually dumb enough to actually use them?

poor aggies

Jimbo is not that kinda dude to just say ok reduce my salary. He wants to shove it any way how he can against whatever university he works for and thats just how he is. Look Jimbo is not a nice guy like Scott frost of Nebraska willingly to reduce his salary so will be an easy stres Free exit on the university.

You can’t fire him.

It’s only one bad year.

But he is destroying the program just as he did FSU. You cannot let him do that.

And no decent coach will want to touch that toxic shite

Toxic? Grossly overpaying a coach with a mediocre record and then giving him a ridiculous extension? That is the opposite of toxic. It's taking candy from a baby. Look at Auburn for a toxic situation.
