He wants out, the administration wants him out and the fans definitely want him out. No way are they firing him and paying $85MM. Here’s what is going to happen.
The administration will search for a reason to fire him with cause. It will likely be more of a technicality than a serious violation, although that could occur. Jimbo will say no way. The situation at this point will be untenable and neither party will ever move forward together. Aggie will “reluctantly” negotiate a reduced buy-out, although still substantial, Jimbo will claim he was wronged and accepted less to just get out. They go their separate ways. It will all be choreographed by each parties lawyers/agent. This will happen.

I hope not. This has been too much fun.
Although, when A&M pays some other washed coach 100 million, that’ll be fun too…

Either way, the board’s reactions will be great.

And he shouldn't.

The only coaches we won't be able to hire aside from the extremely small list of guys who'd never ever leave their school willingly like Smart, Saban, Day, and Harbaugh are hardcore friends of Jimbo and I don't know if you've noticed but it sure looks like he doesn't have too many friends in coaching circles.

He’s not taking anything less than the amount owed to him.

If I were him, and A&M tried to railroad me, I’d say good luck, you’ll be dealing with my attorney from here on out.

A lot of Aggies are saying they'll cut his resources as a form of leverage.

I guess they don't understand that will harm the program long term.

For 86 million Jimbo will have the best of the best lawyers and anm will have the same dweebs who approved this contract.

Jimbo has no reason to negotiate down.

Aggy is stuck with Jimbo for the foreseeable future.

poor aggies

Jimbo has no reason to give an inch.

We could always go full shitbag and make up a reason to fire him for cause. Then when he sues we could use the same lawyers who fricked Mike Leach out of his buyout at Texas Tech via the ridiculously overreaching state sovereign immunity laws that bar people from suing the state.

Not saying we'd go that route due to possible fallout but it's a legitimate tactic we could take.

This is what I keep thinking. The same nincompoops who “negotiated” that ridiculous extension for Jimbo are going to be the ones to negotiate it down?!

What would happen if Jimbo wanted to take another job? Would the other program have to buy out the contract?

Aggy still won’t be able to buy Jimbo out after only one year. they’ll still owe almost half that 86 million after five years, and aggy can’t afford it. They’re broke. They have no money.

If another school wanted to take him and he wanted to leave I don't we'd do a damn thing to stop it at this point.

That could maybe even be how we dump him if we (hopefully) have a clause that his new school picks up a chunk of the buyout once he starts coaching again. So if we can find another school that actually wants him maybe they offer him $5 million a year for 5 years which could knock down out obligation by $25 million.

shite, if we are lucky that's why he was talking about coaching at West Virginia as a final destination earlier this year. Maybe he knew it was about to collapse and already has a deal set up with them the exact same way he did w/us when the dam at Florida State started to break.

He'll get another year. It'll be interesting to see how many of those recruits hit the portal to abandon the sinking ship. Reduced buyout? Why would he agree? Regardless, it would never be reduced to anything remotely feasible. How many PIs do they have watching Jimbo these days just hoping to find SOMETHING?

Unless a alot of his recruiting class leaves, I don’t see him being fired. Any small glimmer of hope will be enough to say next year is the year………again.

They’ve painted themselves into a corner.
