Yeah. Both states have beauty in them, and some nice places. Biloxi, Gulfport, Savannah, etc

Looks like it was deleted, my comment is the one I believe he is puckered up about. The thread was "what is the worst SEC state to which I replied it is unequivocally mississippi, by far. The thing is, every other SEC state has SOMETHING that is a big draw to bring tourists in that trumps anythign mississipi has. If the biggest appeal you can make to the country to come visit your state is biloxi, that doesn't bode well. And anythign in the OP about elivs or walter payton being from there is irrelevant, that doesn't bring people to visit your state.

Mississippi has lots of faults - but making a statement like that just shows your stupidity. Not all of MS is just the Delta. Mississippi is host to the Navy's pilot training program and has a large aerospace industry. The casinos on the coast bring in lots of tourists, and if you've ever been in Tupelo on Elvis's birthday you'd see a shite ton of folks from all over the US cramming into that tiny town. Speaking of Tupelo, if you're into cars, it has the largest automobile museum in the nation as well.

My suggestion - try actually traveling around the US and visit each state. You'd be surprised at some really badass places each state has to offer.

Mississippi isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. It depends on what you’re into. If you like big cities and all that goes with that, it ain’t for you.

That's the thing. Some of us from here know that the state has plenty of appeal.

Conversely, there are places here that are worse than you can describe to people who have never experienced them.

You act like I've never been there, I've been to many parts of MS. Again, the thread was comparing a small list of specific states against one another. "Best" is obviously subjective but when thinking about it, I personally thought about what would draw others (ie, non-residents) to visit. In other words would would be so enticing that it would bring visitors that do not live there to spend their time and money to actively go visit?

GA- Atl has tons to do by itself
FL- Disney and beaches
TN- beautiful mountains, Nashville, tourist spots like Chatt and Pigeon forge
SC- charleston, hilton head, great golf
KY- horse raising and the home of bourbon
MO- pro sports teams and good BBQ, famous national landmark
AL- talladega, music festival on the beach, a resurgent downtown area
AR- beautiful outdoors especially in the NW
LA- New Orleans mostly
TX- many big cities and pro sports teams

That leaves MS. There's biloxi like I mentioned which is probably the #1 draw. It has a beach which 6 of the other states do too so it's not really unique. MS has no pro sports teams. The landscape doesn't really take it over the top compared to other bottom tier states. It's "major cities" like Jackson aren't a draw at all. It has very niche things like you said like Elvis museum but that appeals to a pretty small and targeted audience.

Again, you're taking this personal because it's ranked last, but every other state has something that can easily trump MS. It's just a fact man.

Wish you would've left him off the list, he claims ATL anyway. Fake arse mofo from Batesville.

This got me thinking.. Who claims Jimmy Buffett? He was born in Mississippi, but partially raised in Alabama.

The famous Mississippians book claims him for Mississippi. Britney Spears was also born in Mississippi but she is all Louisiana's to have.

It's funny you list soulja boy and nate dogg, as if Atlanta can't possibly stack up on the rap scene with those heavyweights.

Other than Oxford and the Coast.....Mississippi is a complete shithole. I love visiting home but my life is much better outside of Mississippi. Yea there are some greats in Mississippi....but overall it is shitty. There's not very much opportunity there. Its all about who you know.

Again proving you Georgia fricks dont know everything. That list is only responsible for pretty much shaping the entire 20th century of popular music, that's all.

That list may be very influential musicians but doesn't invalidate his point... Polling 1000 random individuals in whatever state you'd like would still net you very low results for people being able to identify half of that list... Influence doesn't equate to popular notoriety.

I've named several areas in MS that bring in lots of tourists. You just chose to ignore those items. Think about it - more people visit the casinos on an annual basis than Talladega and the KY derby combined. But, you wanted to use those as examples of them getting more tourists - the math isn't on your side. So, you may want to go back and examine your criteria a bit more and try again, unless you want to put Alabama and Kentucky under your MS in your rankings. And that's why I have called out your intelligence and alluded to the probability that you have never actually traveled and spent time in other states.

Even your fellow MS residents are saying the state is shite. I never said there isn't anythign to do in MS, I said that as an overall state it has less to offer than the other SEC states, which you'd be hard pressed to argue.

I mean hell look up any list of "worst states" and MS is at the bottom of just about all. Just about dead last in education, obesity rates, roads, you name it. But I guess they do have a car museum and a casino. And some influential musicians back around the time the automobile was invented. Surely that will vault them up to be on par with Disneyworld and pro sports outings.
