Wrong, you uncultured, illiterate, red clay prison colony descendant.

Music: We are the birthplace of America's music like the sign coming into the state says (Elvis The King of Rock and Roll, Jimmy Rodgers the Grandfather of Country Music and literally 90% of The Blues).

Literature: We are also a pillar of American literature with William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Tennessee Williams and several others.

Medicine: We also pioneered the heart, lung and kidney transplants doing them first in Jackson MS. The Guyton physiology text is the premier text in the subject being published more than any other textbook.

Athletics: Walter Peyton, Jerry Rice, Brett Farve, and several others are some football's (the greatest game ever created) greatest legends in the Pros and there are several college greats from MS that didn't just play on our in state teams.

Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, and Brett Favre are my favorites. I'm so proud they chose to not attend OM or MSU.

You forgot contributions to entertainment in Oprah, Jim Henson and Robin Roberts. Oh and Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones.

It's cool you like Mississippi! As you mentioned, it has a rich history and is a beautiful state! For me, though, I'd rather live virtually anywhere else in America. But it's cool that you like it!

The most amazing part of this is that both Ole Miss and State missed on all these legends in their own back yard. How is that possible?
