To the OP, no, this is not actually happening. The deescalation is going to come with Sankey walking back quite a bit of his comments and LSU never doing what it didn’t do to begin with, rostering anyone who practiced with an NFL team after the NCAA changes the rules and screwed their eligibility.
These are university presidents voting. Saying things like "Kiffin didn't recruit NFL players" and "LSU didn't challenge the rules in court" doesn't really hold up.
It's not happening in a court room and it's not a criminal case. Everyone knows Lane was recruiting these players and getting them to do these things. There is no "proof" required.
These are serious people who look at the reality of it. Technicalities do not matter.
That said, I'll be shocked if LSU is kicked out. This is about sending a message for LSU to get in line.

There hasn't been a peep out of Baton Rouge in 3 days. Kiff hasn't gone that long without a post in 7 years.
So, they are either confidently sitting back on their laurels thumbing their nose at the rest of the conference and waiting to see what happens,
or,
they're negotiating a settlement with Kiff.
Time will tell.
