As a Texas fan, I downvoted this and hope Georgia is #1 coming into Austin.

Texas was objectively better than Georgia last year. We beat Bama. Made the playoff. Finished higher in the rankings. We both return our QBs and the same number of players on offense and defense. We had a higher ranked portal class meaning more instant impact players. So why are they ranked higher? Make it make sense

Probably basing off the last 50 years where you’ve finished #1 a whopping 1 time.

Because preseason polls are meaningless?

Bingo. Both teams handle business in weeks 1-7, it'll be a 1 v 2 matchup in Austin.

Doesn't matter if it makes sense, it is what it is. In any case, starting the season #1 makes you a statement target to everyone on your schedule, and each week there's nowhere to go but down.

Tbh #4 makes us a target as well, but at least we have room to climb.

A single snap hasn't been taken this season, and already Texas is butthurt that the most irrelevant poll of the whole year doesn't give them credit for what they did last year.

That may be the most Texas thing I'll see all day.

I don't think so.

I agree with this, but typically when teams start having drama and run-ins with the law then the subsequent season is never what it was cracked up to be.

Georgia won't be undefeated coming to Texas.

Honestly I would rather UTrans have the #1 preseason ranking.

Georgia would've been a minimum 5 point favorite if they played in a CFP game last year, and the consensus is that our roster is better this year.

But okay.

They are UTrans. Delusion and entitlement is a requirement.

last year.

There's the 1st reason. A few more:

Better head coach
Better coaching staff
Championship pedigree
(Probably) better QB & OL
Better D
More than literally 1 whole year of success

“Texas was objectively better than Georgia last year. We beat Bama.”

Yes, Texas beat Bama but even you have to admit you caught Bama at a damn good time. Half the conference would have beaten Bama that day. Bama wasn’t even close to that bad in December.

Texas, the one year wonder has a good season, then expects validation from from the rest of the nation.

How many times has Texas been back now??? You're in the SEC now, get in line and get ready to fight every weekend.

Translation: Texas made Bama look so bad that anyone could have beat them.
