Hmm Auburn has won a natty and played for another since Oklahoma

A&M can absolutely win a title this year, they have something like an 82% blue chip ratio.
A&M has been building a real contender for awhile now, they just haven't had the right coach.
Them winning would be vastly different than someone like Indiana or Ole Miss winning.

Yeah, and that was a one off, with a one off player. Auburn hasn't even sniffed relevancy in 10 years. Pushing the sixth straight losing season, and 69 losses since 2014. Gimme a break.

Auburn made the final game in 2013 after winning 3 games the year before, pre-NIL
Auburn had an NIL for Cam. It wasn’t sanctioned by the NCAA. ?? That is why I am surprised Auburn and Freeze struggled to win games in the Nil era.
Oklahoma was a dumpster fire before Stoops and quickly won a championship after he was hired.

Was going to say the same thing.

Modern era this is not the case.
remove Florida, LSU, Auburn and USC. Add Texas Tech, Mizzu, Indiana and OM. They have shown they will play the game and let the coach run the show.
Auburn and LSU just vomit all over the place in the modern era.

Yeah, the difference was some programs refused to use that money to cheat or cheat on the level of the powerhouse programs.
Not even what I was talking about.
You think top tier coaching salaries and facilities are cheap?

You are quite naive to think NIL & portal aren’t going to shift the CF landscape immensely over the coming years.
The big dogs are still going to eat.

We will see.
A large college in the heart of Texas recruiting doesn’t really move the needle, though. Even teams like BYU, Colorado, and Georgia Tech managed national titles long before NIL and all that jazz.
When programs that historically suck and don’t have a lot of natural resources for football start consistently dominating, then I will pay attention.
Money has mattered for a long time, folks. The same teams are still going to be at the forefront. NIL or not.

Maybe to some extent, but explain Indiana now. Some programs did not want to cheat or cheat at a high level with all of their money pre-NIL. You can build nice facilities, high-paid coaches & big marketing depts but if you were not willing to take that money & kick it back to players &/or player's family under the table, you were not competing with the schools willing to cheat. Not to mention the legacy cheats have a leg up on the other schools. It will take time for NIL to have it's full impact. We are already seeing parody. Sure, the OSU, Bama, GA, etc. are still at the top, but we are early on & it will take time to catch up the traditional CF powers. You are dumb if you think CF is going to remain top-heavy with brand names.

And those schools had a brand-name & were cheating arse's willing to pay players under the table. It's not like they built a nicer practice facility & hired a coach & got better. It was a battle of the 'bluebloods', bidding war for 5-stars for under the table cash. I'm sure the aforementioned coaches are well versed in paying players pre-NIL.

This is a bunch of excuses.
You either spend the money to compete or you don't.
Nothing has changed.

There have always been non power programs that hired good coaches and had good teams.
The only difference is now you think that's because of NIL, when it's actually been happening forever.

It’s about paying players legally. That’s it. Nothing else.
Posted on 11/13/25 at 10:36 am to SidewalkTiger
Of course the cheats want to say it’s an excuse.
You’re too dense to understand what is happening. Anyone with a brain sees it. Keep on thinking it’s the pre-NIL days. It’s not!

Cope and seethe.
Give one piece of evidence that indicates things are "different" now.

Not this year we are not.
With our defense? We will be lucky if we beat Florida and Vanderbilt, much less play for a national championship. .
