Any particular reason you did not just use your OP to make this?

Based on what? If you’re going by on the field success, national brand, size of fanbase, etc. Texas A&M isn’t even Top 15. We are around 15-20 in most statistical categories in college football.

UGA
Ole Miss
Kansas
South Carolina
Oklahoma

Might as well start by taking the 5 current national champs in the 5 largest sports.

Wrong. A&M isn’t even top 30.

32. Texas A&M

The Aggies had a long history of playing second fiddle to Texas in the Southwest Conference and the Big 12 South, so they up and made the leap to the Southeastern Conference in 2012, much as Arkansas had done two decades earlier. And that made a difference. In the SEC West, the Aggies play second fiddle to Alabama. And LSU. And Auburn. Texas A&M has been cursed with a long history of goodness in a sport where only greatness is revered. Aside from R.C. Slocum's run in the 1990s, Bear Bryant's in the 1950s and Homer Norton's just before World War II, Texas A&M has lived a life of above average. Jimbo Fisher, over to you

The criteria is based on who each individual would pick if they were creating a conference.

From an ESPN/Fox perspective?

I’d guess it would be some combination of:
-Ohio State
-Bama
-Michigan
-Notre Dame
-Texas

The strength of the SEC has always been the depth and parity of the schools from a competitive standpoint rather than just one or two major schools IMO.

If you looked at 6-15 it would probably be 75% SEC.

You’d have these schools as locks:
-OU
-Georgia
-LSU
-Florida
-A&M
-Auburn
-Tennessee

While the B1G would only have:
-USC
-Penn State

What's the point of the conference? You just want an minor league for the damned NFL and NBA? Or do you want schools you give a damn about, have history with and can travel to?

I choose the latter.

South Carolina
Clemson
UGA
UNC
Tennessee

But hey, the all-important 'TV footprint' ain't that spectacular, but I'd actually REALLY care about the games.

Main things to consider would be population of market, football and ratings, and relevance in other sports.

Florida
Bama
Texas
Ohio State
Notre Dame (maybe can flip with Michigan)

One of your 5 is not like the others, only 1 of the 5 truly belongs

I'd update that to 10-15 & closer to 10 @ this stage.

That list has these programs in the top 30ish:

7. Yale
10. North Dakota State
11. Princeton
13. Harvard
16. Mount Union
18. St. John's (Minn.)
25. Grambling
26. Pennsylvania
27. Wittenberg
31. Wisconsin-Whitewater

Too high, should be in the Top 10 or Top 20 if this involves drinking.
