2021 - #16 LSU loses to UCLA 38-27
2017 - Texas A&M loses to UCLA 45-44
2017 - Ole Miss loses to Cal 27-16
2008 - #18 Tennessee loses to UCLA 27-24
2007 - #15 Tennessee loses to #12 Cal 45-31
2005 - Arkansas loses to #1 USC 70-17
2002 - Auburn loses to #20 USC 24-17
2000 - #3 Alabama loses to UCLA 35-24

Can Auburn win the first SEC game on the road vs a California P5 school since 1997 (#3 Tennessee over UCLA 30-24)?

That'd a deep stat right there, was that the tenner game where they pulled the onside kick trick play with almost no time left

Which Tennessee game? The UCLA loss in 2008 was the first game with the "Clawfense" run by Crompton. The Cal loss was the world's introduction to DeSean Jackson (Tennessee beat their arse in Knoxville the year before in the re-introduction of Cutcliffe).

Freddie Milons’ punt return was the highlight of that season.

Still one of the dumbest losses in the history of the sport. We were up 44-17 going into the 4th quarter. F#$k you Kevin Sumlin!

My favorite moment was DeShawn Capers-Smith letting the easiest pick pick in the history of the sport go directly through his waiting hands only for the the UCLA receiver to catch it for a TD.

They are a whopping 0-2

2014 National Title vs Florida State - L 34-31

2002 @ Southern Cal - L 24-17

There was also a pretty big game against FSU and Jimbo and Jameis in the Rose Bowl one time.

Yep, almost forgot that one.

I didn't realize Auburn had only played in California in a regular season game 1 time. Pretty wild (but understandable).

Auburn has a couple weird stats like that. Like Auburn has never played Notre Dame in football...ever.

That is pretty nuts - pretty sure LSU has never played Michigan? Somebody like that.

A few of those schools - especially Notre Dame and Michigan -never schedule southern games (and rarely teams) and either didn't play in bowls or only played in Rose Bowls for so long. The B1G ones have mostly taken care of themselves through the Outback/Citrus Bowl lineups, but Notre Dame did the we're better than most of you thing for a long long time.

Alabama's first ever game with Michigan wasn't until 1988, and we pretty much played everybody nationally before that. We've only played Michigan (2012) and Ohio State (1986) 1x each in the regular season ever, though. And both were neutral site games.

Actually the game in Knoxville was in 2006. Then Tennessee went to Berkeley in 2007.

Ah, had it confused. Getting old sucks. Just remember it was the first game Cut was back and Tennessee's offense lit their arse on fire.

They did the same thing to us at our place the next year and that was one of our best teams since joining the sec.

Those Pete Carrol USC teams were stacked.

The UCLA game (the beginning of the end of the Fulmer era). The Cal game was when they had Erik Ainge taking snaps under center and handing off with his non-dominant hand after Cal fractured fingers his dominant hand (you can see them taped together in the pic.

It's also the game where Arian Foster began his trend of fumbling at critical times in games.

Kind of like the Florida teams of the Meyer era, they played with unlimited swagger and confidence (and had dudes everywhere). But it's clearly hard to run a program that is loose enough for guys to play that way over time without having it implode on itself.
