Most times when the center grabs the ball, he moves it forward a bit. The neutral zone is supposed to be set where the ball was spotted from the previous down.

Darth, could you imagine if this would of happened to the gumps in Bryant Denny? There would of been fights, gunfire and setting cars on fire. But, we know that would never happen with the SEC replay booth anchored in Birmingham, AL.

I’ve got no dog in the hunt here, but it really isn’t.

It gets tiresome when “melt” is the go-to dismissal of so many valid discussion topics.

It’s a coping mechanism for those who don’t want to confront the fact Auburn got hosed. They scream “MELT!” so thy don’t have to address what really happened.

It was addressed ad nauseum two weeks ago when it happened. The fact that you continue to beat a dead horse is what makes it a "melt."

Hope that helps.

Did the Georgia players regroup and exit the neutral zone before the snap?

It’s hard to know for sure with a photo.

When this happened some Georgia fans said the center pushed the ball forward before the snap and that’s why Georgia looks like they’re in the neutral zone. Centers do that all the time so it sounded plausible to me. I didn’t bother to look and confirm. But if you guys are still talking about this play, can someone share if that was true or not?

DV's really a pretty good guy (except when it comes to football).

Yes, the Center moved it forward (which is a penalty). You can see it in the first few seconds of this video:

Centers often move the ball forward when they grab it.

Good video. You can also see one of the UGA defenders whose hands appear in the neutral zone reposition himself and pull back before the snap.

Second, nobody from auburn is in an illegal position so just take the win you were given and pick another hill to die on. It'd be a shame to lose your credibility over this.

The right tackle or right guard has his head over the butt of the football. That's a clear neutral zone infraction.

Are see still pretending Georgia fans an Auburn haters aren’t still bitching that Georgia was the ones who were screwed out of a touchdown? Is that what we’re doing?

Are we starting any threads on it more than a week after the game? Nope, just you.

Ok, so, offsetting penaties and redo the play from the 6 inch line instead of the 3 inch line. Either way, it’s still 3rd and goal for Auburn and it was never going to be a TD for Georgia.

Why would it move the ball back? It's a redo from the same spot.

The ball is still in the center’s grasp and firmly on the ground

That doesn't mean it isn't moving. You actually think the center picks the ball straight up off the ground when snapping it. No, he slides it. Also, if you look at that picture closely, the goal line does not line up with the marker on the opposite side. It's a weird angle.

It's all good. It's almost as if Auburn hasn't already played and LOST another game since this happened.
