re: Billy Napier Spotted at UGA Practice
Posted by brambo on 11/11/25 at 9:39 pm to Lt. Columbo
Him and Muschamp were both UGA fans, Muschamp was even a player. Both were “good guys” that got four seasons when it was obvious they were fetid dumpster juice. While they could both recruit, both coached like inbred mouth breathers because they probably are. I cant get mad at them for taking the money and doing a poor job. Just like I can’t get mad at a snake for biting. It is what they do, and all they are capable of.
The people to get mad at are Foley and Stricklin for hiring them.

They are destroying their ability to sign contracts in the future
I’d think so, but Tennessee shorted Pruitt his buyout and Heupel still walked into that afterward. There will always be a skilled coach who jumps at the opportunity. Just, maybe not their first choice. Most of these guys have the mentality that they will never be fired anyway.

Two weeks ago, he was unquestionably getting fired/leaving at the end of the season.
It’s just my opinion, but I really doubt he was. Just enjoy the wins. I know very well what it’s like to not be able to fully enjoy wins because they saved the coaches job. But in this case I don’t think it happened.
re: Don't cheat. Take a guess. What is the longest college football punt in history?
Posted by brambo on 11/10/25 at 1:36 pm to Harry Rex Vonner
When I was in high school we had a punter kick it on a low trajectory nearly 85 yards against us. I’m sure college punters with good bounces can theoretically handle any distance that would fit on a football field.

Florida looked pretty good at the end of last year, how did they just completely fall off the cliff?
Didnt look good last year. Napier’s offense is shite. It only worked because Lagway had the 3rd highest rated deep ball accuracy. It stretched the field vertically and paired well with elite RB and great OL run blocking. He never could handle quick throws with proper timing. His intermediate throws tended to be interceptions half the time.
The injuries off-season prevented him from working on his weaknesses. As we have found out over the course of the season he also completely lost his touch on deep passes. Furthermore, he lost about 10 yards or more on his range. The talk of bad footwork is certainly accurate, but he didn’t have it last year either. Oh, and he’s sad.
Basically without the deep ball this offense can’t move with Lagway as QB. This is his accuracy in 25+ yard passes this year from GatorNationFBPC on twitter:
2024- 64.7%
2025- 28.6%

Wilson has asked for a red-shirt.
Dallas Wilson had foot surgery. Maybe it was one of those he could have put off, I don’t know. But either way, it was real. Eugene Wilson had ankle surgery. Tank Hawkins is the guy who asked for a redshirt. I don’t blame him considering he didn’t redshirt last year and hardly got used.
But yeah, WR room is depleted and QB can’t throw. So, that really simplifies the game plan for Ole Miss.

look at the rankings Billy basically recruited same level as Mullen. His recruiting was overrated
Mullen intentionally took NLI from players absolutely no other teams were interested in just to boost his rating. He would have so many never make it to campus. Those that made it usually transferred or never developed.
According to rankings, McElwain was the worst recruiter Florida ever had. But look at the players in his classes, there were a lot of good contributors. Then look at Mullen’s classes. They are rated higher, but half of these people I forgot existed. For every good player there is five total busts.
Mullen’s recruiting ranking was always fools gold and there’s no point to trying to rewrite the book in order to make Napier look worse. Napier for all his faults built a roster with great talent. The pieces just didn’t fit together well, and he couldn’t make gameday decisions.
If you don’t believe me, let’s wait until the transfer portal opens and compare those ratings to Mullen’s recruits when they portaled out. It won’t even be close.

We can stop lying now This team is not talented
I don’t think overall team talent had much to do with tonights game. Defense was absolutely Granthamesque out of nowhere. Guys looked like they were knee deep in syrup out there. They saw Lagway disassociate after one bad play and he just dragged everyone down. Maybe they would have lost regardless, but guys definitely quit.
re: FL @ KY - thoughts?

I think Florida has more than enough healthy talent to easily win this game. But this team hasn’t played to their talent level all season. The playcalling last week was good except for the 4th and 1, but Lagway still has a lot of Billy stink on him. So, I guess we’ll see. No outcome would surprise me short of getting totally blown out.
Edit- I was surprised. I thought maybe a 2 TD loss at worst. I wasn’t expecting the defense to just completely give up like that.

There’s something like 10 posts a day about how you guys aren’t worried in the slightest.
Maybe we get him, maybe we don’t. But you should know these posts say more about Ole Miss and yourselves than it says about UF.

I think the one in black said Drinkwitz would be a good hire and …well, someone had to knock sense into him.

I think most of the logical UF fans and people actually plugged in are already shifting from Kiffin to other options.
Nah, logical fans will keep pushing for Kiffin but understand when you’re shopping coaches you don’t always get what you want.
UF athletic department has been hiring a steady stream of dorks (McElwain, Mullen) or slack-jawed idiots from Northern Georgia (Muschamp, Napier) for football coach. Drinkwitz was built in a lab as the perfect UAA hire. We all know that is the kind of guy they’ll go for. If they hire him while we expect Kiffin, everyone will go ballistic. Therefore logically we have to demand Kiffin to avoid a Drinkwitz-like hire.
It may not result in the coach we want, but it will prevent the type of coach we don’t want.

Automatic. But still, cling to it like a child’s stuffed animal.

There is something off with Lagway.
Everyone told him how great he was in the off-season. Saban would call it rat poison. Combine that with the injuries and lack of practice and he never had a chance.
I wonder how many pro careers are going to be derailed by the college bag? He will still get drafted, but this regression is massive.
To be fair though, he never was good at making reads, he often forced throws, and his mechanics weren’t great. I knew his progression in these areas would be hard earned with the injuries. I just didn’t expect him to completely lose the deep ball. In 2024 he had the 3rd highest deep ball accuracy in the country.

He will be the first coach in SEC history to be the HC of three different SEC schools
I’m serious when I say this, but I think Dan Mullen could bring a lot of stability to Auburn, and they need it at this point. NIL covers for his recruiting weakness. Make it a requirement that he doesn’t bring along Todd Grantham, the damn terrorist DC, and he would probably do quite well

Deep down, y’all know he’s not leaving.
I don’t know anything in regards to his future. I’m not like you weirdos who claim you know everything there is to know about the man. The evidence is so ridiculous as well. “Here’s a picture of his Ole Miss coffee cup with his name on it, and a directors chair with his name on it. He wouldn’t just leave this behind!”

I mean to be honest it’s always going to be like this. Every year.
I think it was a bit of a one-off, but I read that only four P4 coaches were fired last season. That was probably in anticipation of paying the players. That deferred a lot of firings to this year. And isn’t there going to be advertising patches on jerseys now?
So you had a perfect storm of few being fired in 2024 due to bad finances, and now they’re expecting a new revenue stream. So 2025 could be just a perfect storm situation for the coaching carousel.
I don’t know how much of it is parity in the usual way we think of it. The new time controls where the clock keeps running when people go out of bounds is shortening the game a lot. There are fewer plays, and fewer drives. It makes sense that the games will be closer with less opportunity to separate.

He's not the player he was last year
Same for Lagway. The offseason hype kills the drive for these guys. Every SEC QB who got hyped this offseason has disappointed. So I’m perhaps a bit more forgiving of the position coaches than most people for this reason.

Do I need to give you guys a pep talk? You’re Missouri, the whole m-i-z z-o-u thing. Have some pride! You take care of your man. You don’t let any outsiders get their grubby hands on him. Give him a contract extension, as much as he wants. Lock Drink down. When Scott Stricklin comes calling, you tell him Eli already has an extension and he’s going nowhere.
You deserve this. You are worth it. I believe in you!
