This is one opinion (247sports' opinion).
However, they failed to do ANY kind of research.
Manning had a better pro career than college.
He had one great year (and should have won Heisman), but there have been several players native to Louisiana who had just as good a career or approaching his accomplishments in COLLEGE:

I agree that peyton's legacy is a bit inflated due to his enormous NFL success, but I mean I've never heard of like half the guys you just listed. Surely not every one of those people were as successful in college as peyton.

I remember when Jerry Rice was selected to play in the Blue Gray game which was a big deal then with big names. He won MVP.

Because he couldnt beat out Tim Tebow who was a year ahead of him?
Not sure how that's any indication of him not being the best. To me, Cam Newton just seemed flat out unstoppable. He took a fairly average team at Auburn and won a national title. It's scary to think what he could have done if he was given more than 1 year to start at the FBS level.
Having Tim Tebow and Cam Newton on the same team would be like having Drew Brees and Peyton Manning on the same team. Can't really go wrong with either...they started the guy who had a little more experience.

How's it funny? You do realize he's in the CFB HOF right? He was NCAA all-time leading receiver for years. He managed to become a 1st round pick despite not having the greatest measurables and playing for a divison I-AA school. I have no doubt he would've dominated division I football had he gotten a chance to play there.

To be fair to the MSU coaches, Steve McNair had some ridiculous stats as a DB his Senior year of high school.
I don't know the exact number, but he had over 20 interceptions that season.

Not true. Jerry Rice had an offer from State. State was playing old school ball and Rice thought he could use his abilities better at Mississippi Valley since they put the ball in the air alot. I just read this a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not saying the dude sucked, he was obviously and clearly great. But to suggest he's the BEST NCAA WR OF ALL TIME is simply due to his notoriety of his professional career.

Is this a serious question? Cam did way more than Vince Young despite having vastly inferior talent around him. VY was a great CFB player, but he wasn't ballpark Newton playing in the weak Big12

Was going to say Y.A. Tittle should be on it too, but I looked him up. Born in Texas even if he played at LSU.
His pro career derailed from injuries, but I still think Bert Jones had the best physical tools to play qb in the NFL ever, at least as a pocket qb. Better arm talent than Bradshaw. Pretty good runner but not in Bradshaw's league at that.
Had an outstanding college career too.
