It's played when they come down victory hill

It's played during pregame

It's played at the end of the 3rd quarter when home in Tiger Stadium

and at bowl games

and at away games

and at SEC championships

And it's definitely played for national championships

It's called tradition.

quote:

The opening chords and melodies of the "Pregame Salute" were derived from "Tiger Rag," a popular jazz tune from 1917, while "Touchdown for LSU," which directly follows the "Pregame Salute" both on the field and in the stands, was written in part by Huey P. Long. This song is played most notably during pregame, during the march down Victory Hill, and at the beginning of the fourth quarter of each football game.

The director of the away band should always be aware of what's happening when they start playing. And the home team should give them a heads up if the expect the away band to stop playing for some special presentation.

... And it is played in the middle of other school’s alma matre being sung at homecoming by fans in their own stadium, and it is played to drown out any tribute to a dead local musician in his favorite CFB team’s stadium, and it is played anywhere that can label the LSU band a bunch of stupid nasty juveniles, and is played (along with shouting STTDB) simply to say “look at me and LSU and be impressed with how we can be arseholes” ....

You forgot the Tigerland Fan Exit Song.

It is usually played in the middle of the 3rd Q.

LSu band was already playing when that started.

I know you live in New Orleans so it must be hard for you to comment on anything involving LSU rationally, but do you really believe this?

Kinda like when A&Ms band played while the band was playing pregame on the field during the 2013 game? Or like every other visiting band playing during the fourth quarter tribute when they come to Baton Rouge?

Good lord

It was a mistake. Just leave it at that. In the over all scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal.

What happened? This is the first I’ve heard about this. LSU Band? Tom Petty?

Lsu band rustled jimmies while playing our 4th quarter traditional jam during the tribute of a dead musician with no ties to college football.

Did I miss anything?

Yeah I'm saying there should be more courtesy than there is today. From all teams. I was speaking in general terms.

Florida started a Tom Petty tribute in the middle of LSU's band playing and people got upset that LSU's band didn't stop.

LSU's band even started the song early with 10 seconds left in the 3rd quarter because they knew about the planned tribute. Seems like someone at Florida started the tribute too soon and made a mistake.

UF's band started their tribute 6 minutes earlier than scheduled. UF's band director apologized and took the blame.

Why is this still being talked about?

"Why is this still being talked about?"

Cuz ignorant asses would never say, Oh, I didn't know it was effen Florida's fault and wouldn't care anyway.

Florida lost and to top it off they effed up their tribute to one of the best rock and rollers ever, even if he was a heroin addict.

And it is played in Jackoffnola's dreams because he is fixated on hating LSU.

No hate for team, quite the contrary. just continued disgust at behavior of fans. It wasn’t just the Tom Petty tribute. The band did it during Florida’s singing of “we are the boys...” and again during alma matre. One time is happenstance. Two times is coincidence, three times is hostile action...hence the booing. You just repeat whatever false talking point is posted on Tr don’t you?

You pathetic “fans” and your continued excuses, blaming every other school, the refs, the FBI, for your own pitiful persona are the source of the widespread contempt for the school and State. You do it, the coach does it, the AD does it. Blame others knows no bounds it seems.

By the way, ignorant cursing and random personal attacks are the refuge of a shallow mind. Grow up Boudreaux.
